[ Lois had been on the ship for a few days and she already had more questions than answers. She should lay low and stay out of trouble or ask Clark to do this for her... But that wasn't her style. And considering recent revelations, she'd rather do this on her own.
Despite the temptation, she didn't snoop around upon arrival - instead choosing a more direct approach. She starts the feed in her room, seated at her desk. ]
Hi, most of you probably don't know me. My name's Lois Lane and I have a question for all of you, or a few I suppose. I'm a journalist back home so call it a habit, but I'd love to speak with whoever's willing. Either on or off the record, considering my job seemed to find a way to transfer itself here. I'd preferably like to meet in person, but I can be flexible. Nothing too serious - more about backgrounds, how long you've been on the ship, demographics to establish a baseline. A few questions about your experiences while here if you're willing to share.
[ Her more in-depth questions are something she'd rather keep off the network, at least the ones she'd figured out so far. This process was going to have to be organic based on responses. Speaking of keeping things off the network and getting it out of her head... ]
Also, does anyone have any actual paper and either a pen or pencil they might be willing to part with until I can get a supply of my own? I'll find a way to pay you back. Thank you all for your time and possible assistance.
[ Seems fitting to throw that in there right before she ends her feed, try and work towards building up her own resources as best she can. The message is short and to the point, she'll deal with trying to get interviews with the Captains once she's got a bit of a firmer grip on the real situation.
Hopefully.]

VIDEO -> ACTION
[Shepard arrives from her room on Mero deck, and as such, ends up on the bottom floor of the garden, first — in among the root structures. The atmosphere is close, private, almost sacred, somehow, the final point underlined by a supply of candles available for lighting. A catch-all for the religiously inclined, she hazards with a half-smile, picking up one of the candles. She'd never been particularly religious (sacrilegious, on the other hand, she seemed to excel at—she seemed to have an unfortunate knack for trashing temples, and spitting in the face of "gods"), but remembrance rituals were something Shepard could always get behind, regardless of affiliation.
She lights the candle wordlessly, and places it amongst the melted stubs of others at the base of the roots. She shivers suddenly, but not from cold, and shakes her head. I've got too much time to think on this ship. I need a hobby. Or another job.
A glint of light catches her eye, and she's drawn towards the ethereally-beautiful glass sculpture in the center of the garden. It's here that Lois finds Shepard when she arrives.]
ACTION
Whens she spots the other woman, she hangs back for a moment to let her light her candle in peace before actually approaching. She tries to announce her presence somewhat by making her steps a little heavier and moving into peripheral view before speaking. ]
This whole garden is quite a sight to take in, isn't it?
ACTION
Realized when I got here that I never gave you my name. [She extends out her hand, to shake.] Shepard. A pleasure to meet you, Lois.

So, this isn't your first extended stay on a ship? I was only on one for maybe an hour or so before and there wasn't exactly time to settle in and explore. Any tips for those who might not be so used to it?
no subject
[Didn't take long, though.] Most of my life has been spent on ships, and I'd say keeping a routine is the most important. Make time for yourself and your hobbies, if you can. Talk to people. Everyone's in the same boat, and it's always helpful to know you're not alone. Exercise — if you're stressed, condoned physical activity can be a great way to work it out.
hiatus catch up, sorry for the delay!
What sort of work did you do back home, if you don't mind my asking?
np, me too!
With regards to what I did, though — I was Lieutenant Commander in the Systems Alliance Military, and commanding officer of the SSV Normandy SR-2.
