Okay, so. I have some matters I'd like to bring up. If you've not met me, I'm Doc Yewll. I'm not always going to be nice to you but I will try to fix what's wrong with you. There are other doctors that have more patience than me, refer to them if you have to.

On to business.

The Med Bay still needs some repair. I'd say with a little help everything could be up and running within a few days but it does mean people with technical parts and anyone in need of surgery are going to hold off for treatment. Useful salvage to that end would be a miracle.

Also that station's infirmary has a neat trick of offering up complete medical histories. If you would be willing, please send me what you can of yours privately. I'm not going to sneak around and try to get it, but if I have a complete medical run down it means I can better help you in the future if related problems come up. Just don't grab anyone else's if that's the case. Just yours. I want absolute information consent here.

Right.

[Robin nods, but pauses for a second, thinking about where to start.]

I guess I should start with the fact that I have powers. [Which isn't really a thing that a doctor needs to know, but it comes with weaknesses that she really should tell somebody about.

She holds up a hand, open palm facing the doctor, showing off all five of her fingers.]

When I was little, I ate the Flower-Flower Fruit, and it gave me the ability to create copies of my body parts wherever I want.

[ She closes the hand into a fist, and then opens it again - revealing that it now has eleven fingers. She closes and opens it again - showing she now has five fingers, but they're all disturbingly long - she's grown new fingers out of her fingertips. And then, almost instantaneously, the extra digits all disappear.]

...the thing is, though, that eating a Devil Fruit has consequences that I have to live with. I haven't told this to anyone else, but you should know this in case we ever visit a place with a lot of water - I can't swim. The price of my powers is that I can't enter any body of standing water - even getting in knee-deep drains away all my strength so that I can't move, so it's really easy for me to drown. That's something you might have to deal with.

[Especially if there's a leak of anything aboard the ship. There's more to say, of course, but Robin's gonna let this sink in before she goes on to the other thing this doctor might have to deal with.]

[That's not good, to say the least. Who knows what worlds they might end up on.]

We have field medics that know CPR. If it's okay with you, I'll let them know.

[She doesn't react to the abilities, not because they're not impressive, they are. But she's reminded of Zam's. She's wondering if the girl would benefit from knowing someone who does things like these instinctively. But she doesn't mention it yet.]

And if we stop at a planet where you might be forced to go into the water I'm willing to bring it up as a health hazard so you're not forced into anything you can't handle.

But if you want me to just keep it to myself I will. And your abilities.

[She's hesitant, but it doesn't take long for her to concede.]

Well I haven't been keeping my powers a secret, but so far you're the only one who knows that I can't swim. If we end up on a place with a lot of water, though.... I'm okay with you telling people.

[It's not that big of a secret, and people finding out is a lot better than drowning.]

There's one more thing that you should maybe know too. When I do this - [She takes a moment to grow three more hands - not out of her own body this time, but out of the floor around her feet.] I'm not growing an entirely new arm. These are more of the same one.

[Which seems like an unimportant distinction, until she brings up the problem with that:]

So if I hurt one of them, they all get the same injury. And if something bad happened to a lot of them at the same time... [Like that time Riptide almost crushed a bunch of them when she accidentally scared him into transforming, although she won't mention as much right now.]

...well, nothing like that has ever happened before, but if it did it wouldn't be good.

So, if you suffered a lost of limb like a lot of other people on this ship, you'd want a limb that could do something similar?

....I think I could manage that. I would have to get some help but let's hope it won't become an issue. Other than that, don't worry, I'm good at cleaning up messes of people.

Where I'm from there's something called "razor rain". Should say enough about what I've had to deal with. [Doc Yewll had no end of confidence in her medical abilities. She applied her ruthlessness to healing people. If she wanted something done, she would manage it. And if anything, she wanted to assure people she had control of their situation. Especially when they were trapped far from home, with no certainty they could be taken care of.]

[Robin's face goes a little paler at the question. It's certainly an unpleasant idea, but nothing she hasn't considered the possibility of before.]

I'm saying that if I grew a bunch of my arms on something, and one of the giant robots stepped on the copies, I would get all those wounds on my real arms. They'd be jelly.

[There's no prosthetic that can do what Robin's powers can do. Which is something she's almost thankful for - her powers have a lot of potential for harm that she wouldn't be particularly excited to have redirected at her.]

My power only works with my own body parts, though. I don't think it would work on a prosthetic - I would need you to reattach or fix the ones I already have.

[Serious talk coming from an eight year old. Her face is pretty stoic, even if this talk makes her sort of sick to her stomach.]

...I'm really careful, though, so that shouldn't happen. I just thought you should know.

It wouldn't be magic. But there is a shapeshifter on board, and I've been working on prosthetics for her. If possible though, Kiddo? I'd rather you come out with all your limbs and whatever extra limbs you can make in good order.

You be careful and I'll be ready to do what I can if you mess up anyway. Deal?

[She holds out her hand to shake on it.]

[ Robin nods. ]

I was planning on it. I just... it made sense to make sure you knew, just in case.

[Well worth the risk, if it ended up keeping her alive.

Robin looks up at the doctor's extended arm and gives a small, almost imperceptible smile, before one of her arms blooms out of the Doc's own, then reaches down and proceeds to shake with her. Really, what else did she expect to happen? ]
