I have a question.

[Some precious few may recognise Kaworu's voice, but otherwise, he just sounds like a discreet, polite teenager.

Albeit one hijacking the airwaves with a very specific set of observations.]

This may be stating the obvious, but... it seems that every individual on board this ship speaks a language... right?

I find that very strange.

After all, language requires society. Without the desire to communicate--and a society to create the need for language itself--it would not exist.

But it's not just that.

We all share the same basic form. Have you noticed?

It's not a coincidence, I think. That basic form... the human form... it's very important here.

And it seems that the Moira is designed to accommodate exactly that.

Strange.

The robot's not sure what to do from here. Clearly this poor guy is touched in the head, because although Mettaton is very accommodating, what else can he do but repeat his name.]

...Is my name too much? Would MTT work better for you? I don't mind you abbreviating it if it's easier--

[Kaworu is indeed stretched out on his back, half-buried in the thick white padding of his upper bunk bed. He'sstretched out his arm and staring up at his MID with a peculiar look on his face.

Frisk's arrival isn't really a surprise because he can sense them coming, but he's used to being the one seeking them out, not the other way around. Another time, he'd be very glad.

Right now--]

--Frisk?

[It's not clear if he's responding to Frisk's arrival or Mettaton's recognition of the child.]

[Frisk smiles at Kaworu, resting crossed arms on the bed and their chin atop that with a soft laugh. Not often they manage to surprise Kaworu!]

That's my name!

[Really, how else are they supposed to respond to that?]

Hi, Mettaton! What'cha guys talkin' 'bout?

We're talking about me, of course! Me and my name!! Is this another friend of yours, this...Kaworu, did you say his name was? Why don't you be a dear, Frisk, and explain my name to him! He seems to be having trouble!!

Don't worry, sir! This small human is a professional ambassador!!

[Clearly, this is important ambassador business. The entire discussion prior to the robot sharing his name must be paused.]

[Kaworu doesn't say anything at all. His red eyes just turn to Frisk questioningly.

It's not the kind of question he usually asks with a look, though.

He's waiting.]

[Frisk nods the the hovering MID screen (regardless of how very much MTT can't see a blessed thing going on over here) before turning to Kaworu again.]

Um, well, his name is Mettaton, an' he's a robot star that's got a soul, and eeeeeev'rybody in the Underground knows about him! Doctor Alphys made him before she even became the Royal Scientist, they both helped me on my way through to the Barrier.

[Well, okay, 'helped' is stretching the truth a bit, but Kaworu doesn't need to be confused by the whole mess that going through Hotland and the Core turned into.]

[Who needs visuals with legs like his?

Even though he's not any more visible than the other two, Mettaton is expressing his approval through quick light flashes through the light grid on his face as Frisk's explanation served to stroke his ego.]

See, simple enough right~? I'm an entertainment robot, like the human says!! Maybe I can do a show for you sometime!

[Even if the guy is being a little weird and fixating on his name.]

[Here's what Kaworu got out of everything Frisk just said: "so, he's not an Angel."

Here's what he really cared about out of all of that: "so, he's not an Angel."

Which means that now his use for this conversation is at an end, pretty much, but he's still here and so are they. So...]

Oh... that won't be necessary.

[He's less tense now, at least.]

[Less tense is good! Though Kaworu definitely seems pretty tired... Well, considering the conversation they had before, Frisk probably shouldn't be surprised by that.]

[Frisk clambers up properly onto the bed, sitting with their legs dangling off the side.]

Aw, but I bet you'd like it! You like doin' stuff with music, an' Mettaton's a super great dancer! You could put on a show together!

Yes, I agree!! No need to be so antisocial; If you like music, I'd be happy to dance to it! After all, I've been looking for a good tune around here~

[While Kaworu is done with the conversation, Mettaton is less so. It could be blamed on Frisk; they mentioned the music, after all!]

We can talk philosophical too!! You seem to like that sort of thing!

Almost tagged this with my Hisoka journal....

[Someone needs to tell Mettaton it's less 'what he likes' and more 'the only thing that ever comes out of his mouth.'

In the meantime, Kaworu's red eyes glance back to Frisk. Then he gives a short half-smile.]

You dance?

[He's only ever seen that on television.]

[Maybe later Frisk will inform poor Mettaton of that unfortunate fact, but not just yet. There are far more important things to discuss!]

[They grin brightly at Kaworu's odd smile, taking it as encouragement whether the expression was meant to be or not.] Yeah! I can dance a little too, but Mettaton's the best at it! We did a reeeeeally big dance together once, it was great!

[And also kind of...deadly, but about half of Frisk's encounters in the Underground wound up like that whether the monsters meant it to or not. Bullet-pattern birthday cards aren't something humans are meant for.]

[Mettaton thinks it's pretty unfair that all he can do is hear voices. The pregnant pauses here and there are captial A ANNOYING!.

Of course, when Kaworu and Frisk finally do respond, he's pleased to know that he's garnering more compliments!!]

Of course I do, what sort of TV personality would I be if I couldn't even dance? Do you dance, darling? Naturally I don't mean you, Frisk dear!! I know you can hold your own!!! We'll have to work on your technique soon, though~

[This guy just doesn't quit, does he?

Kaworu isn't really sure how to make it stop. With Shinji, the problem was getting the boy to speak to him, not the reverse. And Frisk seems to... want this to continue?

He... doesn't have a problem with it, but...]

The question isn't actually that unreasonable, though. SEELE saw fit to teach him play the piano and violin, after all. But that's all he can do--at least all he can do that's of human origin.

[Sorry, Mettaton, Kaworu's communication is about 50% Eerie Smiles.] Really! I've already been practicing, I'll do my best!

[To Kaworu, though, they laugh and grin widely.] We can teach you! It's really easy, you just gotta know where to put your feet!

[And keep the rhythm in mind and be aware of the style that matches best tot he music and what your partner may or may not be doing...but hey, not like that's difficult or anything!]
