2nd Impact [SOUND ONLY]
I have a question.
[Some precious few may recognise Kaworu's voice, but otherwise, he just sounds like a discreet, polite teenager.
Albeit one hijacking the airwaves with a very specific set of observations.]
This may be stating the obvious, but... it seems that every individual on board this ship speaks a language... right?
I find that very strange.
After all, language requires society. Without the desire to communicate--and a society to create the need for language itself--it would not exist.
But it's not just that.
We all share the same basic form. Have you noticed?
It's not a coincidence, I think. That basic form... the human form... it's very important here.
And it seems that the Moira is designed to accommodate exactly that.
Strange.

audio;
[He makes a tch noise.] Its a person with the gift of lycanthropy, meanin' they got a wolf inside them, they can turn into a wolf, stronger, faster, better senses than a human, live longer, heal faster... an' have certain shit to do with the lunar cycle. [A beat.] An' accordin' to government classification they ain't human.
[SOUND ONLY]
Which isn't to say he doesn't, he's just too bothered by how much work this is turning out to be to really appreciate it.
On the other hand, it has become clearer to him that he really needs to spell these things out for these people and he can't just say things like 'and?' and have them figure it out.
So it breaks about even, for now.]
.... and you still have this government? Are you still many and not one? You are still possessed of friends and family? Of others like you?
[That is still a human, Drew.]
audio;
[SOUND ONLY]
... yes.
[That's exactly what it means. Everyone is human. If all these 'different' beings are possessed of 'humanity,' then of course they're all humans. That's what human means.]
What's wrong with that?
[Kaworu isn't being rhetorical in his question. You've done it, Drew. You've stumped him.]
audio;
[SOUND ONLY]
A word... that threatens your identity?
How absurd.]
And what I'm saying is that humans and all other life on this ship are made by the same standard.
It doesn't matter what you call it. If you don't like that word, pick another one.
[Honestly!]
audio;
[And he's curious now.] An' if the rest of us are so human then what the hell are you?
[SOUND ONLY]
I am what you are not. The other kind of human.
[Is a generalisation still crazy if it's correct?
Anyway, making up words is your kind's business.]
audio;
no subject
The two halves of God's power, divided between two types of life. Each possessed of a different form of 'humanity.'
But they were never meant to coexist.
[Can you hear a smile?]
To bring them together would be a violation of the divine decree.
[Then, almost conversationally:]
Of course, I didn't make these rules. I only know them.
The power of the mind... the ability to create knowledge...
That's the gift given to humans like you.
