[He pauses as he types out the text, considering if he should be honest about his intentions or not. It's not like he had any sinister plans or anything. It's just a matter of being private. But he doesn't want to sound too weird or shady. This sounds shady doesn't it??

He types and deletes a bunch of times, unhappy with most of the reasons he tries to give for asking the question. This one makes him sound too weak, this one makes him sound too ignorant, this one just makes him sound stupid. Eventually he settles for...well, nothing. He just gives up and hits send.]

There are a lot of monsters on this ship. Not as many as you humans, but y'know, we're around.

[He paused a beat, picking at non-existent fingernails.]

Oh. Yeah. I can use my mind to like, move things and fly and stuff. I guess you could just call it telekinesis?

[It still seems like something different to him, but he can't explain it so calling it that will have to do.]

Wow, you came right out with that, kid. [It's a pretty alarming notion, but not the first human with those kinds of powers he's met so far. The shock of it is starting to wear off, not that much of it read on his face regardless.] Freak accident to blame?

[Andrew gives pause at that question.]
Sort of. Nothing like, super dramatic or anything.

[He did totally think he was going to die but whatever.]

I think it was more of a freak incident than accident.

As it happens, I'm a big fan of slim semantic differences. [Sans leans forward slightly, balancing his jaw against his carpels.] Sounds like an interesting story, if you're up for telling it.

Uh...I guess so.

[It takes him a second to adjust to the sight of a fucking skeleton making such...human movements, and also to ready himself to tell the story. It's not something he struggles with in particular but he always sucked at explaining things.]

So, um, my cousin dragged me to this rave one night - just a stupid party. And uh, I was outside [crying] and his friend comes up to me and tells me to bring my video camera to this hole in the middle of the woods. It was making a really weird noise. So we all go in and it's like this perfectly fitted...hole-tunnel thing, I don't know. At the end there's this big rock that's glowing blue.

It gets kind of fuzzy from there but after one of us touched it it started to glow red, my friend's nose started to bleed and my cousin flew back against the wall or something? And I don't know, my head was ringing and I think my nose was bleeding too. Anyway we woke up and the tunnel started to cave so we got out. Like a week or something later we could just...move stuff, just by thinking. We tried to go back but the tunnel was caved in and surrounded by cops and stuff, so...I don't know what happened to us, really.

[Sans' face keeps still for the duration of the story, locked in a rictis as he listens to the unfolding tale. It's both a familiar story and an unfamiliar ones. There were strange artifacts dotted through monster history, magic hotspots, geothermal energy making way to magical power.

But hearing of something like this, so directly tied to humans, was an entirely fresh pill to swallow.]

Huh... wish I could give you some insight. Maybe if I could get a look at the site. [Still, he looked curious.] You got decent control?

[He wishes he could go into more detail, as much as he could to give more of an idea of what happened and what the thing looked like, but his memory is hazy from the events and his footage is long gone. It saddens him but he tries not to dwell on it too much.]

I know how to control it, yeah. [This is probably the one time he sounds confident. Of course his idea of control is "i can move this stuff perfectly and do X and Y". He'll completely forgo mentioning how he loses control of himself when he gets angry enough.] I haven't had it a long time but...I'm really strong with it.
