notyoursupergirl: (Probably doing something terrible)

01- Video

[ Give a teenager a video function and a captive audience and it's only so long before they abuse the privilege. ]

You know, this kind of transdimensional grab bag usually sets off a few alarm bells. Integrity of the space time continuum, multiples of the same person in the same space affecting Reality As We Know It, blah blah blah. This is pretty low key. Like hi, welcome to your new home, here's a really ugly uniform, a job and a room assignment. Don't mind the teenagers necking in your room, that's just a thing.

[ Who's bitter, not her. ]

One thing I do like? Crew roster. Nice, simple way to check to see if there's anyone familiar; archenemies, familiar code names, family members from different dimensions who might not know who you are, ex-boyfriends who need to get their teeth punched in... [ She was making a point here. ]

Some of you need to work on your code names, though. Like I get being part of a legacy, but we have like five different Snakes. Five. [ More like three, but she's not gonna let a silly thing like facts stop her. ] That's way too many snakes for this ship. Venom I get, it sounds like someone who probably runs around Gotham and changes their alignment every day of the week, but whatever, I guess if Catwoman can, you can too. Live the dream. The other two need to flip a coin or something.

Or, wild idea, but go with me on this: pick another animal, be your own hero and/or villain, break free of the legacy cycle! You know who never looks stressed out? Heroes who aren't part of a legacy.

Pretty sure it gets weirder than that.

[Okay, people not knowing about superheroes at all is sort of strange, but a lot of the guys go unknown--or at least they did, until groups like the Justice Society and Justice League popped up. But Zatanna's still reeling from running into a Conner who's apparently from six years into her future, and a Superman from so far in the past, he's never even heard of the Justice League.

For her, that's way more unsettling.]

Supergirl? [That's a new one for her. But given the pretty clear connection, she's got to ask.] So I'm guessing you're related to Superman, maybe Superboy? Cause they're both here too.
noitatnacni: (so that might be a thing)

[personal profile] noitatnacni 2016-03-06 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry; I probably could have said that better.

It doesn't help that this place is seriously messed up though. Superboy and I seem to be from the same dimension, but we're from different times. Suddenly, instead of being teammates, he's six years older and looks at me like a kid.

[Because being fourteen somehow doesn't justify that at all.]
noitatnacni: (does anyone else notice the body in the)

That might explain why I haven't heard of you. Even from Superboy's perspective, I'd only be twenty.

[So Kara could be from an even more distant future. Great.]

But hey, like you said. There's still some common ground, right? [It's about as much of a bright side as they're going to get.] I mean, there have to be things that are the same no matter what time or dimension we're from. That's at least a start.

And I agree with you about the uniforms. Someone had some bad taste when it came to picking those out for everyone.
noitatnacni: (you're so in for it.)

Is it weird to say that's almost comforting at this point? [Someone expecting her to suddenly be fully grown-up and adulting hasn't exactly turned out to be Zatanna's favorite thing thus far. But if Kara's from a different dimension entirely, then her Zatanna's a completely different person, right? So maybe there will be fewer unreasonable expectations or something.

Or maybe Kara will at least keep from commenting on how small Zatanna apparently is.]

Yeah, definitely. And hey, we didn't get a Bizarro version of Superman, so that's a plus. [So even the people who aren't as up to speed as Zatanna aren't as bad as they could have been. Still not ideal, but she's feeling a little better about it the more they keep talking.]

I know, right? They aren't even cheesy enough to become a cult classic. [Because hey, Zatanna's seen some interesting outfits in her short tenure as an official superhero. These aren't even bad enough to be good.] It's crazy how amazing the ship is compared to how sad certain aspects of space life are turning out to be.
noitatnacni: (this is going to be awesome)

[personal profile] noitatnacni 2016-03-26 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it's not like there's a lot to work with. [Which basically puts Zatanna in the same boat.]

Me neither. [Or Klarion, Vandal Savage, or the variety of other villains Zatanna or Kara could probably list off. If they're lucky, none of the major bad guys will show up from any of their universes--but given how things are going so far? Zatanna's not going to count on it.

Granted, she's also not going to drown her sorrows...probably. The tidbit does get a laugh though.]
Yeah, but I'm still only fourteen. I mean, there's not carding, and then there's not caring.

Not to mention the fact that I haven't actually tried alcohol before. [Sneaking out, going to parties, hanging out with the Team, sure. But her dad would have actually killed her if he ever caught a bottle of booze in her hand, and somehow she doubts Batman would be any more approving.]
noitatnacni: (i'll listen to what you say)

[personal profile] noitatnacni 2016-03-26 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds pretty cool, actually. [Definitely better than the non-existent plans Zatanna's already made for coping with life in outer space.] And hey, maybe we can find the stuff to turn it into that kind of bar. There's got to be some useful things on a spaceship, right?

But boy detox definitely doesn't sound good. Bad break-up?
