You know, this kind of transdimensional grab bag usually sets off a few alarm bells. Integrity of the space time continuum, multiples of the same person in the same space affecting Reality As We Know It, blah blah blah. This is pretty low key. Like hi, welcome to your new home, here's a really ugly uniform, a job and a room assignment. Don't mind the teenagers necking in your room, that's just a thing.

One thing I do like? Crew roster. Nice, simple way to check to see if there's anyone familiar; archenemies, familiar code names, family members from different dimensions who might not know who you are, ex-boyfriends who need to get their teeth punched in... [ She was making a point here. ]

Some of you need to work on your code names, though. Like I get being part of a legacy, but we have like five different Snakes. Five. [ More like three, but she's not gonna let a silly thing like facts stop her. ] That's way too many snakes for this ship. Venom I get, it sounds like someone who probably runs around Gotham and changes their alignment every day of the week, but whatever, I guess if Catwoman can, you can too. Live the dream. The other two need to flip a coin or something.

Or, wild idea, but go with me on this: pick another animal, be your own hero and/or villain, break free of the legacy cycle! You know who never looks stressed out? Heroes who aren't part of a legacy.

Well your guess must be based on something. I'm just wondering what that is cause 'Venom' and 'Snake' are pretty normal names where I'm from.

They're like code names from back home. Or back from my Earth or whatever, that's what I'm basing it on.

That is actually a veeeery good question. She's an alien that shoots fire bolts and has like... hair made out of fire. So she might be.

Do...dragons usually look like that where you're from? Because that doesn't sound like any dragons I've ever met.

No, the only dragon-y looking dragon I've ever met came from the underground and could read your mind. He was weird.

[ It was amazing how much disappointment and self-pity managed to get conveyed in that one syllable. Even alien dragons could read minds and here he was, still without any powers. ]

Can all dragons in your world read minds then?

I haven't met a lot of dragons, but I'm pretty sure he was outside the norm.

Well, you are one of the only people I've talked to who's actually met a dragon. Most people just know of them.

Are dragons like a big thing where you're from?

Um. Yes. There's a lot more dragon than humans where I am from. Humans are, um, pretty rare these days. [That's the polite way of saying 'nearly extinct'.]

Really? ...Did the dragons eat them? [ She has to ask. ]

...I think most of them were just burned.

Thousands of years ago humans were killing a lot of dragons, so the first queens gathered the everyone into the tribes we have today and fought back. It was one of the most pivotal events in dragon history. We call it the Scorching.
