Feburay 24, mid-day; Video; OTA
[It took about a week for Breq to realise something was wrong. Maybe she’d set the angle of her broken wrist wrong, maybe she hadn’t been as careful about the disinfection as she thought she’d been. She had field experience with treating wounds, but she was no doctor. She’d treated herself only because it would be obvious to anyone worth seeing that she wasn’t the normal, baseline human she claimed to be. There were lies she could tell of course; exaggerations and deflections, but it had seemed easier to take care of things herself. Easier to hide the lies you don't have to tell. A few broken fingers and cuts wasn’t really worth blowing her cover over.
Or at least it hadn’t seemed like it at the time. But now something was obviously amiss. Her wrist only seemed to be getting worse, and whether the pallor in her face is from pain or fever is anyone’s guess.]
I’m looking for someone on the ship with medical experience. Someone with experience with… [She hesitates, teetering on the edge of divulging more than she wanted.] atypical physiology. Someone discreet.
[It’s vague, and it’s going to stay exactly that vague on public networks. She knows asking for discretion only raises more questions, but there's no avoiding it.]

Have you been to the medbay? That's where you'll usually find the medical professionals. And doctors are, generally, sworn to discretion on this sort of thing. Do you know Doc Yewll? I recommend her. Not much of a bedside manner, but she's a hell of a doctor. She does just fine with my atypical physiology, at any rate.
text;
[Nevermind that keeping secrets on a ship like this was counterproductive. They knew little enough as is.]
I don’t need bedside manner, just skill.

[Look, okay, curiosity is a flaw and one he's good at.]

[See also; mind your own business.]

Her injury looks painful enough to make J frown. ]
You know there's not really point in telling that you have a secret like that and still show your face?

[Breq knows it wasn't the best decision as far as laying low goes, but it's a very minimal risk.]
Now you know my face, and that I have a private matter. Doesn't everybody have things they want to keep to themselves?

[She shrugs and takes another good look at her.]
But apparently not nearly as bad as you're with self-care.
( video; )
What kind of specifics are we talking with atypical physiology though?
[ Coming from a planet filled with all sorts of people and races from various planets makes Cyrus curious for one. He's used to atypical in every aspect of the word. ]

[She's not really a social lady.]

I'm a healer, ma'am. I work in the medbay. How can I help you?
