[Video feed turns on, and the camera is focused on what appears to be... um. Another blank screen?

The camera rustles, and Beast Boy backs up a bit to show himself in front of an absolutely massive TV. For a moment, he can't seem to find his words.]

I... I turned the camera on to make some kind of announcement but I don't even know what to say, it's...

[The camera shakes, and BB disappears out of sight for a moment. Obscene snorting/snuffling sounds occur just off screen; he's blowing his nose on something?? When he talks again he sounds actually choked up about this, and there are literal tears in his eyes.]

It's just so BEAUTIFUL!!

[He has to cut the feed off there, but in a few minutes he's back again:]

So who wants to help me move this baby out of the cargo bay so we can get a proper crew lounge going? I got a whole bunch of video games and TV shows on DVD that we can break it in with!

[Okay so he's not going to question why this kid is green. And normally he would just accept that he'll probably never know what's going on in this video, but... apparently that rectangle is important?

[Beast Boy just assumes the kid on the other end just. Can't see the picture very well or something because who the hell doesn't know what a TV is.]

...Seriously? Dude, it's only the hugest, most PERFECTEST television I've ever seen in my life! It's like, television is almost too basic a word to use for this beauty. It's like... a Megavision.

What's a television?

[Beast Boy looks flabbergasted. He takes a deep breath and gives Ginko a very, VERY serious look. TV as a concept is no laughing matter]

OK. I know that there are all kinds of people on this ship, and that some of us are from different time periods or whatever, so I'm going to give you a pass on that and just say: That is the single most depressing question I have ever heard anyone ask. Ever.

[Friendly grin] No worries, though! Beast Boy is here to help introduce you to the incredible, magical, AWESOME world of television. It's an electronic thing, see? Something you can use to watch movies on and stuff, or play games. Kind of like your MID, but way, WAY bigger, and you can hang out with people in groups in front of it and do all kinds of fun things!

Okay. [He gives a small nod. A really big MID. That, he can picture a little better.]

What's a movie?

[Miller holds his MID so Beast Boy can see the DVD player.]

I think this might go with it.

[He... doesn't actually know how to use a DVD player but he'll figure it out. It has a manual and he's the type that would read it.]

Aw sweet! Looks like we can have those movie marathons after all! You're the man, Miller!

[Beast Boy pretty much knows how to take a DVD out or put one in. Setup? Hell no. That's Cyborg's job. It's a good thing Miller is willing to learn because Gar sure as hell isn't, so long as it involves reading.]

Let me know where you decide to put it. I'll come by and set it.

[Are you ready for a one armed man to spend fifteen minutes setting up a DVD player? He sure is.]

You got it. I guess I should get on asking the captains for a room, huh? I don't think this puppy'll fit in my cabin.

Didn't take too long for them to get back to me on a training room. This should be quick.

[Wow, okay... he can see why you'd get that choked up over a TV like that. It's a thing of beauty-- especially when he hears video games and TV shows.]

Seriously? Thanks dude, that'd be rad. Like, I could probably get it to a new room myself, but--

[He's imagining turning into an elephant and somehow tugging it into the elevator himself. There are MILLIONS of things that could go wrong.]

I don't wanna risk damaging this precious precious cargo~

But it'd be more of a hassle by yourself, right? No problem.

[And wow, that guy really loves his TV...

Billy grins a little and shrugs his shoulders.]

I think I can maybe use a little magic if you've got a room in mind?

Oh. Huh. I should prrrrobably check with the captains before I just eeny-meeny-miney-moe my way into choosing a room. Wouldn't want to get all settled and stuff and then have to uproot again.

You been on this ship for very long? Got any suggestions?

I've been here for a few months, yeah, but I think the captains might know best which rooms we can use.

Nice. Yeah I'll check with the captains. I gotta figure they won't have much of a problem with it, seeing as they're the ones that gave me this thing in the first place...

...Unless they did it just to torture us by giving us an awesome set and no place to use it, which would just be straight up EVIL.

[He gives a laugh at that.]

That'd be a tragedy. We might have to revolt. The crew needs mindless entertainment, right?

Video games?

[His prayers have been answered!]

[Oh hey there little robot buddy.]

What kind of games do you have? Anything good?

...Actually, to be honest, I haven't ever heard of any of these titles before. Which is nuts, because I'm like a video game expert back in my world. Guess they must have different ones in this universe.

That's good! That means you have something new to experience.

I hope playing video games is as much fun as they seem in movies.

Dude. It's like a million times more fun than that, even. Trust me.

Uhhh, well I don't actually have any movies to watch on it, but I've got a bunch of TV shows I've never heard of. Some of them are cartoons, too! Those are always good for a laugh.

I'll watch about anything, you know? Not much else to do.

Except my actual job, I guess. But cartoons.

Loafing around watching cartoons is way better than doing work. What kind of job did they stick you with, anyway?

Wing repair. I guess I'd go out and do something if one of them was, like, on fire or something.

[Even the Avengers don't have anything quite that big.]

Dude I think it's taller than most people on this ship. I'll give the captains on this thing this much, they have excellent taste.

Did they pick the games, too?

I guess so, that or they're just whatever the broken teleporter thingy happened to spit out. I'm actually not really sure which.
