[The video shows a man who's new around here. He's probably older than most, given that he's forty. Most men his age don't have such white hair, but because of it, his features are somewhat striking. He also has a western drawl to his voice when he speaks.]

I suppose it's time for introductions. You can call me Ocelot. I come from the same time and place as Kazuhira Miller, if you know him.

[Guess that would depend on how friendly Kaz has been.]

I was given a job here as a hypnotherapist.

[He realizes how weird that sounds.]

I'm not even sure how the captains knew I had the skill to hypnotize someone. I don't remember sitting through a job interview. Anyway, just because I can hypnotize someone doesn't mean I will. Hell, I recommend you don't come to me for therapy at all. I'm probably the type that belongs in therapy instead of giving it. [He smiles a little, indicating that's a joke. Or is it?]

But I'm here.. in case.. I don't know what. [He shrugs.] Now, while I'm on the line, I heard there's a library here and someone has the designation of chronicler. Any information you wanna share, I'd love to hear it. Mostly about our current situation and anything you think I might need to know about the ship and life here. Thanks.

[Eric and the word therapy are like a moth to a flame even if it was hypnotherapy. He sets his MID to transmit his own smiling face, glasses on, from the luxury of his desk in the Safe Space.]

I hate to be the one to tell you but they seem to know everything about us. I suppose I should introduce myself, however, as your new colleague. My name is Doctor Eric Dufosset and I'm the ship's Counselling Operative. [He's practically grinning though because he got to use the word colleague for the first time ever.]

So you know, I might be referring a lotta patients that come to me over to you. You'll probably do a better job than I would.

[He's smiling pretty openly still.] I don't quite think that will be necessary- patients here are few and far between.

Oh, well, that's probably for the best. At least on my end. I can't really blame them. Despite what I said, I probably wouldn't sit down with a shrink, either.

You wouldn't? [He smiles slightly albeit thinly.] So you have no problems needing resolving then, hm? [Because don't insult your new colleague's profession so quickly man he'll be sad.]

I got nothing against them. [Hopefully he won't take it the wrong way.] I just don't resolve my problems by talking about them. I prefer to take action.

[Eric clucks his tongue.] Well... unfortunately not all problems can be beaten into submission. [Because that was oftentimes what people wanted to do.] And not all of my work is completely verbal, honestly.

Not beaten, necessarily.

[But he handles things one way or another.]

I guess a lot of people feel that way, though, which is why we won't be seeing many patients.

[He nods.] Unfortunately they do. Its one of the expectations of the trade- to only ever have patients that either don't actually have a multitude of real problems or ones who are there simply by a government mandate.

I don't think we'll be seeing any government mandates around here.

So what do you do those hours when you're at work? If you don't have any patients? Must get pretty boring.

[He shrugs.] You never know, with the various personalities we have on board I can't imagine it being too long before the Captains start enforcing psychiatric visits.

[He just smiles.] Its boring, yes... but its also the first example of actual free time that I've had in years.

They can enforce a visit, but they can't force someone to talk.

[That won't make for a productive session.]

But I like that you look on the bright side.

[Eric is nodding in agreement.] Of course not, I'd hate to have it that way too- true recovery begins with personal desire.

[He chuckles.] Well, its true after all... I don't think I've had this much time on my hands since puberty.

[That makes Ocelot laugh. At least this guy won't be terrible company if they have to share an office or something.]

Then I guess I'll just appreciate my free time.

[incantamentum]

[He grins, because if someone was laughing that was usually a good thing.] Of course, there are little things that can be done to help move the process along- such as continuing to cultivate a taste for red wine while in space.

I usually prefer something a little stronger than wine, but if you're drinking some, that sounds good to me. Count me in.

[If they can spend their workdays drinking wine, he won't mind that at all.]

[Eric chuckles again.] Well, depending on what you're used to drinking I could probably transmute a batch of that, too... who knew living in space would give me so much time to work on skills I only occasionally use at home.

[Sounds like it's quite a gift if he can transmute things.]

Oh, yes, of course... I keep forgetting that it needs saying- I'm a witch. [Back home his name alone would denote him as a witch.]

You're a witch and a psychologist? That's an interesting combination.

You're most certainly not the first one to tell me that. [He smiles.] One I was born into and the other came by choice...

Sounds like an interesting story. Maybe you can tell it while we're passing the time.
