video;

[The video shows a man who's new around here. He's probably older than most, given that he's forty. Most men his age don't have such white hair, but because of it, his features are somewhat striking. He also has a western drawl to his voice when he speaks.]

I suppose it's time for introductions. You can call me Ocelot. I come from the same time and place as Kazuhira Miller, if you know him.

[Guess that would depend on how friendly Kaz has been.]

I was given a job here as a hypnotherapist.

[He realizes how weird that sounds.]

I'm not even sure how the captains knew I had the skill to hypnotize someone. I don't remember sitting through a job interview. Anyway, just because I can hypnotize someone doesn't mean I will. Hell, I recommend you don't come to me for therapy at all. I'm probably the type that belongs in therapy instead of giving it. [He smiles a little, indicating that's a joke. Or is it?]

But I'm here.. in case.. I don't know what. [He shrugs.] Now, while I'm on the line, I heard there's a library here and someone has the designation of chronicler. Any information you wanna share, I'd love to hear it. Mostly about our current situation and anything you think I might need to know about the ship and life here. Thanks.

Well, Slick, if we're ever in dire straights I'll keep you in mind.

[He's lucky that he didn't end up "Bucko". Slick seemed to suit.]

Doc Yewll. I work over in medbay.

I say even if you have a history, if you have a skill you can use it however you damn well please. I'm not exactly squeaky clean.

[She has a lot to make up for, and it's an ongoing struggle.]

I'm not much of a storyteller, but I was in a war and saying that much probably explains enough.

Most of the time I have to save my breath for the idiots that take unnecessary risks. Nothing keeps you on your toes in the medical profession like poor decision making skills.

Yeah. And considering that losing limbs seems to be a real risk on this ship, I'd be careful of where you go, Cowboy. Don't want to have to strap a prosthetic onto you, too.

We currently have five amputees with prominent limbs missing, not including those that can repair missing limbs without fear of permanent loss.

So now I have a new hobby to take up my time.

I wouldn't trust an Indogene with a ball of yarn. We might knit a new type of FTL engine out of it.

[But seriously...]

Most of them have been. They either came with them or got them here. I think your friend is the only one who hasn't. Right now I'm attempting to create more adaptable prosthetics for people to use.

Oh yeah. We can fix eyes in here. At least the tech here isn't lackluster. Everyone gets to see my sunshiny disposition now, they'd hate to see how I was if it wasn't up to code.
