So you were gone for three whole years? That's... I didn't know that happened around here.

[He smiles back. The greeting was automatic, but it is nice to see these people again. Makes him feel steadier, like this wasn't just some weird dream.]

I've heard about it. Happened to a friend of mine. Guess I never thought it would happen to me.

Huh. So while you were back home what happened? Did you remember any of this, were you gone at all?

[She hasn't spoken to anyone who's left and come back yet]

Not that I can recall. Maybe I dreamed about it, or something, but that might just be wishful thinking.

I just went on with my life. Bought a house. Found a famous pirate's lost treasure.

[She blinks] Come again? A pirate treasure?

Yeah. As in the golden age of piracy? Every heard of Henry Avery?

No- my knowledge of pirates goes as far as Treasure Island, I'm sorry to say.

That's more or less it. Fiction, obviously. But the guy did have a hoard of treasure and he did haul it off to a mystery island.

That sounds incredible. [Seriously. Once upon a time she'd partook in a pirate simulation in the Danger Room. That had been fun, especially given the hologram program saw fit to outfit them all accordingly.]

How'd you get into the Indiana Jones life?

Kinda ran in the family. My brother and I got into it when we were kids. And when I was a little older I kinda got picked up as an apprentice by a guy who knows his antiquities.

That's amazing.

And that's how you became a treasure hunter. That is really really cool.

It's not as cool as it sounds, trust me. Getting shot at and dealing with shady clients took up a lot more of my time than I'd have liked.

Ah. I see. Well, I'm gonna keep imagining it to be pretty glamorous. If you don't mind.

Nah, go ahead. It's not awful to have one person think so. Just don't pin it up as a career goal.
