First off, I believe I need to extend an apology to all of you for having been somewhat lacking in faculty at being faculty. Excuses be what they may--and I know the past several months have been a distraction, to say the least--I recognize that they do only extend so far.

That all said, with some very enthusiastic support, I think we may just be ready to get this school on its feet properly.

And yes, kids, I did say school.

[ It's said with a smile, but he knows the excuses are coming. Better to cut that off at the quick, right? ]

To those of you who expressed interest previously, please consider this your formal follow-up invitation. We need all the help we can get.

(Hm. Not the most impressive response. Eddie isn't always great at going to adults when he needs to. But he sighs all the same, subjected to the fact that he was going to have to go back to school.)

No early mornings. And I still want breaks.

(Like summer and Christmas vacation. Yes, he's making demands. For the good of the people.)

But we have to start before we even think about pausing.

(Eddie didn't really sleep in all that late, actually, but he hated waking up before the sun was up.)

Well I guess that's okay- but Christmas is coming up soon and we definitely need a break for that.

Do we get to pick our seats?

(He hated alphabetical order. Never got placed near any of his friends. T and K were way too far apart and so were U and D.)

Is it? [ That's the thing about altered timelines and living in a place now with no real seasons: it's almost impossible to tell when in their year--when the year itself has no bearing from one person to the next--a day actually is. But it...had been summer back in New York, and it has been a little over six months (for him) since then. ] I'll have to admit, I hadn't noticed, but I suppose.

[ The sigh here is feigned and very clearly a production he doesn't mean at all. Fine, Eddie, you'll get your break. ]

And for the time being, I see no problem with a chosen seating arrangement, but I make no guarantees.

I dunno. I just know that someone said it maybe was Novemberish a while ago, and my birthday's November 15th, and that was a while ago now maybe?

(If the months really did line up. But Eddie has a point here.)

And if that's the case, then it's definitely almost Christmas.

So uh. What's the policy on detention and stuff? (Not that he planned on receiving detention. Eddie did not like getting in trouble as a rule of thumb. This question was more for the sake of...ahem. Someone else.)

[ He does pause to think on that last question, giving it due consideration. He's had to deal with discipline before--he runs a boarding school for effective runaways, after all--but nothing of the sort that even he remembers. ]

Admittedly, I've never seen much value in detention. That is something we'll have to play by ear, I suppose, but I'd much rather figure out how to fix the problem, not let feelings on whatever matter at hand fester.

[ It's a sure way to instill bitterness, and he has plenty of that in his life right now, thank you. ]
