On my planet -- we're spread across quite a few of those, where I come from -- oh, yes. Barrayar is beautiful in its own right -- I think so, anyway. Open skies, oceans...one of the key features of my home district is the Dendarii mountain range. It's breathtaking from a lightflyer.

My mother isn't from Barrayar though. Her home world, Beta Colony, has a hostile surface climate -- it's mostly sandy desert, and it's hot as hell. The people there live in climate-controlled domes, mostly underground.
