Think about it as the equivalent of accidentally using a secret game hack no one knew about to get to the end of the game, versus being forced to play the game at one hundred times the normal speed. In the first scenario, you never saw the whole game, but you're already done in less than a second, and no time has passed. In the second, you saw everything, but it went by a lot faster than you'd have liked it to, and time still passed.
People were upset then because they lived the year they lost: physical bodies still aged, and they still participated in all the events (saw the whole game), but they didn't realize that they'd been playing at one hundred times the normal speed. They felt cheated, and people who have shorter lifespans felt very much like they'd lost something precious.
But this time, we hopped over all those years (the secret game hack). Nobody aged, and nobody was able to participate in the events or years in between. So while it's a different time and place, our physical bodies were not affected by that loss in time.
Does that make more sense?
[And because she's like this:]
What kind of batteries are they?
i am so sorry
i dunno
[Sideswipe. Are you actively trying to get this woman mad at you. What is the matter with you.]
