[Kaz almost never does a video post, but today is an exception. The view opens up with him positioning the camera on a level surface (a stool) and he backs away from the view to settle on his own seat. Behind him, the wall of the stage in the Hall of Music, and he has his two commissioned speakers and the special guitar gifted to him by Eggsy a full two years ago settled in his arms loosely, though his hands aren't in position yet. He has a half-full bottle of something he's already drunk too much of on one of the speakers. Hence why this is a video post, and he's willing to do this in front of people and trying to provoke some help.]

I was hoping that a friend of mine would turn up late. No such luck.

[Kaz has been feeling his friendships slimming again, through whichever misfortune is at fault, and he's very guilty of keeping people close to his chest. A constant sense of loss that he can never quite shake, because the world always feels a less for not having them around. One less rich accent to complain about mild inconveniences in a humorous, dismissive way. One less person to fuss over the quality of fabric or the quality of character. Losses that leave gaping flaws that Miller is constantly aware of.]

I realized that I didn't have the chance to tell him about one of my favorite musicians. I don't know that he would have enjoyed his music, but I think he would appreciate the man's undefeatable outlook on life.

So this is for Dorian. And I need some back-up from anyone who knows this battle song of my culture.

[Nyx probably would have appreciated it, too. For people who know it, it's probably obvious what he's about to do when he starts the Stomp Stomp Clap. Stomp Stomp Clap.] Buddy you're a boy make a big noise. Playin' in the street gonna be a big man some day...

[Adam puts aside what he's working on and turns more fully to look at the view feed. The guy looks pretty American now that he thinks about it, especially with those retro shades.

[Which seems to be the ancient past for so many people, he's starting to become used to being a relic. It's unfortunate.]

[If there's a chastisement or sarcasm in the man's comment, it either doesn't even faze Adam or he doesn't care (it's the later). He doesn't react to it except to make another comment.]

1984? That's... only 9 years before I was born. That wasn't too long ago.

[Adam thinks for a moment, his expression never changing]

Damn. That was the year the Detroit Tigers swept everyone with a vengeance. I wish I'd been there to see it. Everything went to shit for them after that.

[It's humorously meant. No offense taken, as he knows his appearance is far more American than his birthplace and mother would suggest. And no offense taken in not knowing some bands are just magnificently famous everywhere.]

[Luckily, no one has told him of Freddy's fate or his very heart would ache.]

I think some of the guys on the base had been following them.

[Kaz is only a sports person in that he'll play them. He doesn't follow. The risk would be he might end up buying out a team and calling them the Junkyard Hounds.]

[Adam gives a subtle shrug, and if Miller is astute enough he'll detect a tightness in his frame relax and a softening of his angular features.]

[Now he's trying to remember what the U.S. and Japanese militaries were doing in 1984 but he's got baseball on the mind and isn't focusing so well.]

[He thinks for a second, trying to remember his favorite parts of Japan. There hadn't been much time for sight-seeing except he had been in Chiyoda anyway and...]

Ever been to the Kanda Myojin Shrine? I got a good-luck charm for gadgets.

[Then he frowns]

Damn, it's back in my apartment. Guess my luck is going to run out.

[...but he'd liked it and while Adam is good at not projecting it, he tends to be sentimental about the small things like that. He still remembers seeing the little toy car he'd given Megan after their first date in her office, and how much that had meant to him.

That's the year Beverly Hills Cop came out right? I loved that movie.

I hadn't been watching many movies before I came here.

Besides a cop in Beverly Hills. [He's assuming, otherwise that's a strange title for a movie.]

A detective from Detroit [It's little wonder he liked it from the outset] ...goes to Beverly Hills to investigate a crime. It's funny as hell.

[It's hard to beat Eddie Murphy. This guy has got Adam feeling all nostalgic now. The 80s were before he was born but they were still an amazing time for movies and music, and his parents had been from that era.]

I was never in the service but I was a cop in Detroit for years.

What branch of the military are you in?

The JSDF originally. Then the private sector.

What year are you from?

[It seems relevant. He shifts the conversation from himself to the oddity of being a part of history. Something that's always settled awkwardly on him.]

2027. [He has a vague understanding of the JSDF's activities. Much more interesting than that is the mention of the private sector. He knows all about that.]

They finally found a cure for AIDs this year, in mice anyway.

[He doesn't know what else to say about the year he's from. The world went to hell and so did he.]

What'd you say your name was? ...Who was Dorian?

Miller.

And Dorian he was... Well, imagine a tall handsome man with a mustache, the build of an athlete, the ability to do magic, and could flirt harder than any human being I could ever imagine. Charmingly, as well.

[Thus explains his suggestion of Freddy Mercury.]

[Sounds like the opposite of his personality, Adam finds himself thinking. He couldn't charm his way out of a wet paper bag (not without the help of his ridiculous pheromone secreting augmentation anyway).

As for flirting, well... yeah he's utter shit at that too. Adam gives a soft snort of amusement. The comment about magic he won't even touch as he can't wrap his mind around that at all.]
