[Red isn't shy, but she doesn't like making a spectacle of herself unless it's a concert. Even still she's having a bit of a problem finding what she needs and so hopefully there is either a techie out there or a musician or a mix of the two.
Her smiling face appears on the feed with a wave of one hand (why yes, her nails are freshly painted just as bright red as her hair, thanks for noticing!)]
Hello, World.
I'm looking for a synthesizer board and cannot find one for sell. Is there anyone here who might be able to custom build one for me? What's it called on your worlds I can only guess.
[She thinks a moment, eyes cast to the side before looking to the TAB again.]
It's a board with programmable buttons that play the recorded sound to the beat you set. You can play back the samples and create music. I hope someone out there knows what I'm talking about!

[ Please, give him something to do, he is stuck mostly in his condo waiting for his leg to heal and he's dying. ]

Hello~
Does it sound easy? I'm so glad! I can give you some specifications for it and functions I'd like. I have a little bit of money but I can also pay you in installments too.
no subject
[ Nihlus waggles his mandibles back her because, hello, he's gotta make first encounters with the Turian kind interesting for people, right? Also yes, he IS absolutely amazing looking, thank you. ]
Send your wish list over and I'll see what I can do. The final pricing and length of time taken will, of course, depend on complexity. Between the rendering and fabrication however, it shouldn't take more than a week. I'm happy taking payment in installments.
[ Welcome to the wonderful world of Eezo powered 3D printing. ]
If anything though, you're doing me a favor. It's a been a bit since I've had a project to work on.
[ Between the weather and how unpopular they were with the Savrites at the moment, business has been slow at the tech shop. ]
no subject
Red is happy to hear installments are accepted and also that the project will be worthwhile for him.]
Perfect!
Maybe you can come up with some impressive speakers for me too.
[...where is she going to put speakers in her miniscule tree house... she'll figure it out.]
no subject
Speakers would be no problem either, although you'll have to forward what kind of specifications you'd like for those too.
[ He's glancing off-screen and typing scheduling into his omni-tool for this already as is, though. Then, pausing in the middle of a sentence, Nihlus turns a curious look on her, eyes slanting in an avian smile. ]
Planning to hold a concert sometime there, friend? If so, I'm expecting invitations.
no subject
[Which she would like to say there won't be but she does love performing and already she's working on some songs. Red can't help but to laugh at herself, and she gives a heavy shrug and sigh.]
We'll see.
Is this the type of work you did back home?
no subject
No, no. Sorry. I just. [ A somewhat stilted smile. ] I mostly did politics. Or- well. Dirty work for politicians, if we're being more specific here.
no subject
I never intended to be! Sometimes people are just waiting for something new to come along, I think. Ha, as if I knew anything at all about politics.
What got you into politics?
no subject
[ He's awful charmed though. ]
Ah, well you see, my identity is unfortunately quite political, so it's... never really been a choice on my part. People of my background? Not usually welcome with the social circles I had to deal with.
It just happened to get a lot more political after my mentor took me under his wing.
no subject
[She's genuinely curious! Hopefully the questions aren't impertinent.]

The stripes on my face indicate my heritage. It's a practice done by a majority of my species' cultures. The main political party governing most of our space is known as the Hierarchy and I am- not Hierarchy. In fact, the colony I come from has had a long history of conforming poorly to their laws. An outlaw colony. A mercenary colony, essentially. One with a lot of ties to the Hierarchy's main opposition: the Separatists.
It's... a complicated and messy history that spans the entirety of our species' space-faring history.
no subject
When he takes a space of breath, Red sits up straight again.]
It sounds like it could be dangerous. Did you encounter humanoids like me in your space-faring?
Also is it weird or inappropriate for me to say I think your stripes are really neat?
no subject
Human-Turian relations started off pretty rocky though, if I'm being honest. About thirty years back, Humanity entered the intergalactic scene, activating an ancient piece of technology. An act that was outlawed long before by the Council, a multi-planetary body responsible for maintaining law and order for a lot of species in the milky way. It was outlawed because the last time this tech was activated, it nearly brought the apocalypse with it in the form of a new, aggressive alien species.
So, humanity commits a big no-no and the Hierarchy, the Council's main military support, went over to investigate, found the humans, assumed the worst. Which resulted in a short and brutal fight known as the 'First Contact War' or 'The Relay 314 Incident'. Depending on who you're asking.
[ Which is why his mentor is so murderously prejudiced against all of humanity.
Anyways, enjoy that info-dump, Red. ]
That's not inappropriate at all! In fact, considering the five hours I spend every few months re-painting all of this, I personally quite appreciate the compliment.

[It's not really an accusing question though he does have the preference for bands himself.]
no subject
[Red is teasing! (kind of)
She grins at Miller and shakes her head.]
I prefer a live band but the synthesizer is fun to play with. Have you ever experimented with one? [And she goes on hardly taking a breath:] Which reminds me I want to get together again soon, I have some ideas for some lyrics I think you might be able to compose something around.
no subject
Flattery will get you- maybe not everywhere, but a lot of places.
[He's still not wonderful at accepting compliments again.]
I could try. What are some of the musical artists from your world.
no subject
There's a variety, always changing, like the city itself. Lately it had been popular to listen to Process music. That's to say, the music which the AI running the city would compose to gratify the ever-changing whims of Cloudbank denizens. Some of it was very nice actually.
Some of it was rather awful!
Miller, if I further flattered you by saying you make the best coffee on Kauto would you give me a free cup next time I'm at Pax?
no subject
[Flattery only goes so far. Barter goes further.]
I usually listen to Queen, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin... But I'm pretty open to almost anything.
no subject
Just keep me fueled with your coffee and we'll make all kinds of music.
[Red smiles conspiratorially]
And you'll sing with me?
no subject
You wouldn't want me to.
But guitar I can do.
[He doesn't want to strike her poor ears with something as heinous as his voice.]
no subject
[She sounds far too much like a chastising older sister as she spouts his name, exasperated and amused at once.]
We're going to have voice lessons, remember? I can't work with you if you won't sing for me. You must, you must. Alright?
no subject
[He'd forgotten.]
Also I...
might have been stabbed in the lung since then. [Which he is very hesitant to say, not wanting an investigation.] It was a shadow. [He'll lie.]
I've been healed but it might take some effort.
no subject
[She'd expected a crazy kitchen-accident story and is rather disappointed that it's something more sinister. Red frowns, looking concerned.]
Maybe singing can wait. How about we just get together and you can play your guitar for me?
no subject
[He's still surprised by anyone willing to spend time with him.]
Sure. I'd like the chance.
no subject
When would be good for you? Do you need anything?
[She is obviously troubled by this stabbing news and worried about you!]
no subject
Work's been kind of slow since the incident with the Ingress. No one wants to go to a restaurant owned by someone like us, except for the regulars.
So there are more slow spells through the day.
[He doesn't seem to be bothered he was stabbed. It's a state of having been through worse, and the fact there's no one he can even be mad at.]
no subject
Can you report the stabbing to, to some kind of police or something? ...I'm worried about you!
no subject
[He'll stick with that story until his last breath.]
I went to the hospital and the technology here is good enough that people can be healed from relatively serious injuries in a matter of days. Not to mention that I know capable magic users.
no subject
[Red sounds a bit like a sister as she says this, a little sad, a lot concerned, and maybe the tiniest bit amused?! Her smile is nothing short of honestly sweet though.]
I can't bake too well so I will buy you a cake. Cake makes everything better right?
no subject
is it for live audio or recorded? do you need a vocoder?
text
Recorded I think, for now. A vocoder would be fabulous if you can manage it! Do you have a lot of experience with audio equipment?
no subject
getting the parts together might be tricky though.
no subject
obviously :) otherwise I wouldn't be asking for help hehe
no subject
you're trying to make an album or something?
no subject
No not really. I feel the need to play around with some music and this sounded like a good way since I don't have my band members here
no subject
wait no shit you had a band? what sort of music you played? were you popular? was it like an idol group?
no subject
Just "Red"~! What other choice did my poor parents have?
[She laughs, then gives a firm nod.]
I'm not sure what an "idol group" is but yes, I was a professional singer where I came from. Not to sound conceited but I was quite popular, yes. I'm not sure what kind of music I'd classify myself as...
[Red thinks for a moment with her lips pursed to one side, then laughs again.]
I don't know.
Do you sing? Play any instruments?
no subject
Maybe Crimson or Scarlet, I don't know. Or a regular name?
But yes, I can play pretty decent. I don't sing, though. I don't like it. Fixing shit behind the scenes is more my speed.
What go you into music?
