[ Turians and their mandibles. Some humans claim they're hard to read, but Sara grew up on the Citadel. Elcor and hanar are way worse. ]

Something like that. More permanent than even one built into a hardsuit or omni-tool. Or at least, it was supposed to be.

[ There actually doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the implant itself, just that SAM is apparently no longer on the other end. ]
