[ Tex isn't much for sparring with randos from the network, but she's been wanting to escalate the intensity of her workouts, and this person sounds like they don't intend to hold back. The only problem is being sure she won't outright win every time. ]

[Alright! His message was went correctly. Nyx gives himself a mental pat on the back for doing it correctly. The message is short but on point, so at least he's not getting weirdos (maybe) responding to him. Nyx takes a minute to figure out the holographic keypad before typing back.]

Good. I'm skilled, but I need more practice.

[Nyx ponders a moment on whether he should explain how the magic he's used to fighting with is no longer accessible to him, but the thought of how he lost it makes him a bit homesick, so he presses Send with minimal information to answer the question.]

I used to be an instructor on the ship. I don't have as much time as I used to, but I can assure you there are a lot of talented people here.

[He misses instruction and drills, but knows that it hasn't been working out too well for him lately.]

What kind of world are you from? I mean, what kind of combat can you instruct other people on? ...that sounds weird to me still. But, you know what I mean.

[Disembodied voice, alright. It's just like talking on a mobile phone, he tells himself. Nyx doesn't bother to turn off his own video feed though. While listening to the question he looks up and off to the side, then ends up chuckling at the question.

He grins, with a shrug.]

You never know, right? What if I come across someone attacking someone else? I'd rather have my Kukris than not.

I'm quite good with both, although knives have been a specialty of mine since I was small. So if you're up for another partner, I'm certainly game.

Sounds good to me. I need to learn how to move and anticipate without relying on magic like I used to.

[If they're going to be sparring he should at least let his partner know what he wants to work on. What Nyx really wants to ask is what is a small kid doing playing with knives but then again, who is he to judge? He can only imagine the circumstances some of these other immigrants have come from.

Yeah, exactly. From what I hear it's pretty peaceful here but I'm not comfortable taking that risk. If I need to fight, I need to be ready.

[Nyx is pretty damn happy with all the positive responses he's gotten. It looks like his schedule will be quite full with fighting and he's totally content with that.]
