[As new as finding a heart on her door within the past few days was, it has had Natasha curious about traditions and holidays, and primarily how others here from other places and times than she might celebrate them too.]

Now I'm curious, for those who wants to share. What are everyone else's favorite holidays and traditions from their home worlds?

[A short pause -- one that only lasts about a second in length.]

Personally, I've always like decorating trees during the Christmas season in winter.

[Even if she hasn't subscribed to a religion or anything even resembling one -- well, at least any one resembling any of the handful of the major religions in her world -- in years. There's something really nice about putting colorful decorations on a tree.]

Christmas is definitely up there; all the lights and everyone being nice all of a sudden. Fourth of July is always fun too. But President's Day is probably up there - I love any holiday that gives me a random day off school.

[A hint of a smirk is at her lips. Hi, Peter.] All also excellent choices. Lights and explosions and days off, I don't know what more you can ask for. [A day off for her is definitely a myth, but hey, the idea sounds nice.]

Ever spent one of those days off in Germany? [That's her not-so-subtle way of saying she recognizes him.]

[ OH HI oh neat cool bc mr stark didn't recognise him at all when they ran into each other before and it never hurts to be on the safe side

anyway he's only six months in but days off are definitely getting more rare. he'd probably be a lot more tired than he usually is now if he wasn't, you know, fifteen. although siestas~ in spanish class are probably still happening here and there. ]

Uh, maybe, yeah. You don't really get to see much of the place, only going for a day. Mostly it was like an airport-to-airport comparison study.

[Safe side is always a good play -- she's proud of you for that one. Just as she told Wanda in Lagos that looking over her shoulder should be second nature, she'd tell anyone else the same about being better safe than sorry.]

Damn, should have picked up a souvenir in between causing flight delays. [And since they both well know she knows who he is now-- ] How have you been?

[ peter is already like a level five paranoi-er, don't worry. ]

Uh. [ he's like. still. on the plane home from germany, in his mind. aside from the time he's spent here. ] I'm good. I'm great. I have an apartment and a new job and everything. How are you?

Glad to hear it. [And she is!] I'm okay, considering the circumstances, but generally doing what I do best - adapting, etcetera. [An almost unnoticeable pause before-- ]

If you ever need a friendly ear or someone to help you keep your sparring in top form, let me know. [If Tony -- well, at least by her and Peter's memories here, not Tony's -- was going to drag a high school kid into a fight between the Avengers and international political policy, the least Natasha could offer is making sure he's got a familiar face of support here.]

[ in retrospect peter is abruptly not actually sure how she knows who he is, honestly. he's already communicated with her to a point where it's obvious he knows who she is, and she clearly knows who he is based on unmasked-sight, but. he saw her while they were both in costume. he's not sure how she recognized his face so easily.

there's not too much point in questioning it outright after he's already acknowledged certain things, but. he's still curious. regardless she IS someone who knows who he is, and that's more than he can say for anyone else here (timeline shenanigans withstanding, sadly) as far as he knows, which is nice on another level entirely. ]

Yeah that sounds pretty much the best way to hit things up. Do your best, adapt. That's like, general life-coach lesson 101. [ also aww don't offer shit like that. now he feels a little bad about being all "wait, how do you know me??" ] Thanks! That's, uh, I mean, I appreciate it! I know I have a lot to learn.

The festival of pre-harvest. I helped Bann and my cousin gather herbs, when we could find the time to sneak away.

That sounds nice, actually. What happened with the herbs after? [Different places and people means all sorts of different traditions.]

I helped Raff smuggle them back to his workrooms, for his experiments. What he did with them then I doubt I'd ever know. I imagine he used them in his medicines.

[Experiment is an interesting word choice.] Herbal medicine would be a useful skill here too, I would think.

It's a useful one anywhere. Unfortunately I've not my cousin's gift for it. My skills are of a wholly different nature. [ Then without pausing or missing a beat: ] What did you like so much about trees?

People can decorate trees however they wish -- the trees are versatile like that, not really a "wrong" way to do it, and they all pretty when they're glistening and-slash-or lit up.

And the trees can't complain about pinching shoes or dragging hemlines. [ she might be joking. it's hard to tell ] Yes, I can see how that would be a good one if you've a soft spot for pretty things. Though I've never seen many trees that glisten—save the po trees once, with their silver and gold leaves.
