[When the TAB first flickers to life, all that's visible is an intricately scarred cheek with just the slightest peek of ivory fangs past blue lips. There's the faint sound of something shifting about and finally, Kurt comes into full view.

He's sitting on the edge of an old stone fountain, his tail swishing back and forth behind him, a grin plastered across his face.] I know very little about this holiday, but I've read a few things in an attempt to try and understand better.

[Meaning that he has forgone all the really romantic and couple-esque things about 'Valentine's Day' or whatever they would be calling it on Thisavrou.]

Giving chocolate to someone you like is traditional and I have more than a few friends and other people that I enjoy being around, so ... [He reaches over to pick up a small black box and pops the lid off of it, revealing the candy inside.]

Who wants some chocolate? [A soft laugh follows shortly after his inquiry as he replaces the lid and clutches the box to his chest, smile somehow broadening.]

I'm more than willing to deliver it, too.

Ach! Well, that's no gut - food shouldn't be used in such a manner.

You're welcome! [Again, Kurt goes quiet once the box is taken, watching as Hunk digs about for ... something.

He gasps softly, drawing both hands up to cup around his mouth, widened eyes staring at the item he's being offered. Finally, he reaches to take the envelope, rubbing over the ribbon with his thumb and flushing with embarrassment.] Hunk, you didn't have to-- I mean, I wasn't expecting ...

[Another moment of silence, his head slowly lifting to look up at his new friend.] Thank you, again.

[The purple complexion is even more rewarding in person. Hunk's smile widens a touch.]

It's not much, I had to be quick. But I figured a guy willing to teleport to see a total stranger and give him chocolates should get something back. Plus you're like, really really cool.

[Inside the envelope Kurt will find a note, handwritten, that says simply "IOU: one pancake breakfast."]

[He gets the envelope open rather easily, being careful to not tear it too much as he bends the flap out of the way and removes the note. Before he reads it, though, he brings his attention back to Hunk, hoping that his face isn't getting any darker. ~~Spoilers: it definitely is.~~]

Well, I said I was giving out chocolate and you wanted some, right? Getting to make a new friend out of the deal is just a plus. Also, have you heard the saying, 'flattery will get you everywhere'?

[The blue boy laughs and glances at the paper in his hand, bewilderment suddenly overtaking his features.] You ... you want to have breakfast with me?

[Hunk's grin goes a little sheepish; he's shifting from foot to foot a bit nervously.] Yeah! I mean, if you don't mind. Just thought it'd be nice and all, especially with us living so close!

Any kind of pancakes you like, just name it.

[His cheeks may or may not be a little pink too.]

[Unsure as to how he's supposed to respond, Kurt swallows hard and ducks into the collar of his jacket, the indigo flush spreading across the bridge of his nose and all the way up to the points of his ears. Gosh, why's he so embarrassed? They're simply discussing breakfast, although that's the thing: he's never exactly planned to have food with someone. (Aside from he and Wanda making waffles, but that sort of just happened.)

Whatever pancakes he wanted, though?

It takes him a moment to work past the awkwardness, his head raising back up and tipping to the side in curiosity.] What a variety to choose from. Red velvet, chocolate chip, blueberry, banana nut ... Hmmm!

[Now, he's thinking about pancakes.]

[Hunk just hoped he was awkwardly blushing because he was happy and not vecause he put his new friend on the spot. Plus breakfast was totally the most important meal of the day. He rubbed his chin at Kurt's list, considering it with a serious hum.]

All solid choices. Sounds like we may need to have breakfast more than once.

[He's more than happy - thrilled, actually. Kurt isn't quite used to people wanting to hang out with him and the fact that he and Hunk had only met face to face a few minutes ago and were now making breakfast plans is incredible to him. Maybe the whole 'making friends' thing wouldn't be as hard on an alien planet.

A huff of a laugh passes his lips, quick hands folding the note to put back into the envelope, then moving to put that into the pocket of his coat.] I can eat a lot of food. My metabolism is absurdly fast.

[Hunk was certainly determined to make this friendship happen. It was the first person he'd met on his own since arriving here, and he was pretty sure he hit the jackpot.]

Good to know. Don't worry though, I'm used to cooking in bulk. [ He grinned ] I have a big family. Plus I cook for everyone on the Voltron team. Why is it that the tiny guys can always pack away so much?

[Honestly, it's a breath of fresh air to have someone so willing to make friends with him. The giddy feeling he has about their next get-together almost derails his thoughts, but he's quickly brought back to the conversation when Hunk mentions preparing copious amounts of food.]

Ist gut, ja? [Kurt glances down at himself, shrugging his shoulders and swishing the end of his tail.] The teleporting is part of my problem. Sometimes, I feel like I should be carrying around bags of snacks.

"That's good" is what that meant, right? How do you say "very?" Because I think it needs a "very."

I can totally see how that would work, and it makes sense from an engineering perspective. I don't know how your teleporting works exactly, but moving mass from one place to another takes energy. Human bodies are just really awesome machines, you know. Most machines are built to emulate people for that very reason.

.. heh. [He rubbed the back of his neck again, obviously his go-to nervous gesture] Which is engineer talk for saying "no wonder you eat a lot."

Correct. Saying 'sehr gut' or if you want to project more enthusiasm, 'sehr wunderbar' would do the trick!

It's something that my teachers and I were and still are working with. So far, we haven't done any sort of experimenting with the mechanics of it.

[Taking note of the gesture, Kurt smiles gently and shifts his hands to slip them into the back pockets of his jeans.] I think it's fascinating and frightening all the same. When I was still living on Earth, we would train against robots called Sentinels. They were almost human-like, but obviously lacked the emotional capacities of such beings.

Sehr gut. And sehr wunderbar works on like... people, food, everything?

Yeah, we trained with robots too, but none of them were like... sentient or anything. I was part of the Galaxy Garrison so we had to take a round of everything. Wasn't a big fan of the fighting and I was kinda hoping to avoid it once school was over.

[Sudden realization -- Hunk has effectively just like, skipped out on weeks or months of school.] ... oh man. I'm gonna fail out of the Garrison. My mom's gonna be so mad.

Ja, it does! Sehr simply means 'very', so 'very' gut. [Except he still has an accent, haha.]

Sounds familiar, actually. When I was rescued from Germany and brought to America, I was taken to a school that I ended up enrolling into and now, we practice fighting on a weekly basis. It's to protect ourselves and others from people that might try to start problems, but it's somewhat hard on a pacifist. [He chuckles and rolls his shoulders in a shrug.

Although, at the recognition on Hunk's face, Kurt's brow creased ever so slightly.] I don't think she would be too angry with you, once you explain what happened! We still have the possibility of going home, right?

Okay, okay. So what about "Me" and "You?" How do I say those?

Oh, you're a pacifist? That's really cool, actually. My mom believes really heavily in pacifism. I ... try. I'm not an angry guy, you know? I didn't think I'd ever need the skills 'cause, c'mon. Engineer. What, am I gonna fight with a switch box? [He lets out a short laugh.] But now I have this huge gun and a huge robot lion and I have to fight stuff all the time. And I know that it's to keep other people safe, but.. even if they're the enemy, they're still people with families, you know?

[He bites the inside of his cheek.] No, no I mean before here. We kinda got.. sucked through a portal by the Garrison and were taken like, thousands of lightyears away at least. We've been out there for months, before we ended up here even.

'Me' is mich and 'you' is du. Together, it would be: "Ich und Du."

I am. I've never really understood the point of fighting when it does nothing, but cause more pain. Completely understandable to not think about battle training in a career of that choice. [He nods his head in a comprehensive manner, flicks the spade of his tail over his left shoulder and sighs quietly.] I do know, ja. The first battle I got into was against this mutant that had a serious god complex. The people that followed him were different; he played off their emotions - took advantage of the turmoil they were in. He had to be stopped, though.

[He simply won't mention what had happened with the plane crash or the events that followed after that.] Oh, oh! I thought you meant--well, nevermind what I thought, but really? How did you end up getting sucked through a portal?

And mutants are people with fancy powers where you're from, right? Sucks that you're fighting each other. We have a similar guy where I'm from. He used to be a part of our team, even. Now all he wants to do is tear the world apart.

Ugh, long story. Has to do with how we found our lions, though, and a lot of it is still sort of up in the air. But basically we landed there, were told our new jobs were to fight for the justice of this galaxy, and had no way to get home. It was a good cause and I'm glad we're doing it, just... I dunno.

[He shakes his head and brings back his smile.] So ... okay, first German sentence here. Du ist wunderbar! [He tries to sound confident but he warbles a little on the end; he's pretty sure he got something wrong, but hey, that's how you learn right?]

That's right! Everybody's powers vary, too. It's incredible how many different abilities there are. [A brief pause as he contemplates the similarities of their lives. He'd thought Hunk and his friends were human, but from the sounds of it, they're all special people, no matter what sort of 'beings' they may be. The fact they are fighting for a similar cause is also interesting to him.] We have quite a lot in common, Hunk.

[Kurt withdraws the left hand from his back pocket and raises it to rub the mussed spikes at the back of his head.] It's a lot to take in all at once. I can understand why you might be slightly hesitant to jump right into something like that. I'm uncertain myself, but I know my teammates probably have doubts of their own, too.

[When Hunk smiles, he lets his own features soften, the edges of his lips quirking at the other male's first attempt at speaking German. He's heard his native tongue a million times, though when the words click, the blue-skinned teen's eyes widen as he lifts his head to better meet Hunk's gaze. No, it's not perfect, but that's what makes the attempt even more admirable.

Cheeks tinting violet, Kurt sheepishly dips his head and threads his digits through the hair at his nape.] Dankeschön, or in English, "Thank you."

[If he didn't say it quite right, by the purple on Kurt's cheeks he at least got the meaning across. He grinned a little, fighting the urge to rub the back of his neck again.]

You're welcome. Don't know how to say that one yet, so. [Aaaand now you're babbling, Hunk.]

Oh! [He smacks his forehead with his palm] We've been standing out here talking all this time, didn't even think. You wanna just come inside?

[Wonderful, wonderful; it's a word that he's spoken time and time again, but this is the first time he's heard it as a description for himself. He clears his throat and shifts from one foot to the other, lowering his arm to his side while bringing those iridescent eyes back up to Hunk's face.]

Oh, 'you're welcome' is bitteschön. [Is he feeding into it by answering? He's really liking the fact that Hunk is wanting to learn his language.]

Uhm, ja, sure! I don't think I have any other chocolates to deliver right now.

Bitte-- [Hunk choked on the word, laughing a little.] I think I'm gonna have to practice that one.

Awesome, come on in! [He sweeps his large arm towards the entrance on the porch.] I just made some cookies if you're interested. Chocolate chip. My team's eating 'em like they're starving, so act fast. [He turned to glance at him over his shoulder, grin wide.]

[He blinks in surprise at the abruptly ended word then huffs an airy sort of giggle in return.] Practice makes perfect, mein freund!

Thank you. [Kurt steps up onto the porch, features visibly perking and his eyes sparking to life while he follows close behind Hunk. He meets the taller boy's gaze with an enthusiastic show of fangs, the heart-shaped end of his tail flicking.] I'm definitely interested. How could I say no to cookies?

I'll just have to keep pestering you for more practice, then. [ Another grin. ]

[ They made their way inside, Hunk pausing by the door to let Kurt enter. ] Never trust a guy who doesn't like cookies. [ He gave a solemn nod and closed the door behind Kurt, nodding towards the kitchen. He caught his first real glance at the guy's tail though and grinned. ] Hey, your tail is heart shaped! That's seriously adorable.

It's not bothering if I'm enjoying teaching you, ja?

[After they're both inside, the blue boy takes a moment to look around, head bobbing in appreciation at the area they've stepped into.] Truly life-saving advice right there. [He chuckles again and heads for the kitchen when Hunk gestures toward it, pausing mid-step to glance over his shoulder at the mention of the shape of his tail.] O-Oh, uhm, just the end of it ...

[He's not blushing - yet.]

.. well, good. Glad I'm not bugging you at least. And hey, if there's anything I can teach you I'd be happy to repay the favor.

[ Hunk tapped his chin thoughtfully. ] I mean the whole thing is pretty awesome looking, and it must be super convenient. But it's the heart shape at the end that makes it cute.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything, but as soon as I do, I will let you know!

[He turns on the ball of his foot to face Hunk again, reaching to grasp the tail between both of his hands, fingers rubbing over the length of the appendage.] 'Convenient' is a nice word to use, [he murmurs, trying to keep from looking at his feet when those marked blue cheeks begin to tint indigo again.] It's entirely prehensile, which means I can do all sorts of things with it.
