[When the TAB first flickers to life, all that's visible is an intricately scarred cheek with just the slightest peek of ivory fangs past blue lips. There's the faint sound of something shifting about and finally, Kurt comes into full view.

He's sitting on the edge of an old stone fountain, his tail swishing back and forth behind him, a grin plastered across his face.] I know very little about this holiday, but I've read a few things in an attempt to try and understand better.

[Meaning that he has forgone all the really romantic and couple-esque things about 'Valentine's Day' or whatever they would be calling it on Thisavrou.]

Giving chocolate to someone you like is traditional and I have more than a few friends and other people that I enjoy being around, so ... [He reaches over to pick up a small black box and pops the lid off of it, revealing the candy inside.]

Who wants some chocolate? [A soft laugh follows shortly after his inquiry as he replaces the lid and clutches the box to his chest, smile somehow broadening.]

I'm more than willing to deliver it, too.

[Well... this was interesting. Last Varric remembered, this fellow was much smaller. In fact, if not for the chocolate being offered, he might have thought it was another man altogether. That, and the speech patterns were still similar.]

Shit, that you Spades? You got big.

Correct. Saying 'sehr gut' or if you want to project more enthusiasm, 'sehr wunderbar' would do the trick!

It's something that my teachers and I were and still are working with. So far, we haven't done any sort of experimenting with the mechanics of it.

[Taking note of the gesture, Kurt smiles gently and shifts his hands to slip them into the back pockets of his jeans.] I think it's fascinating and frightening all the same. When I was still living on Earth, we would train against robots called Sentinels. They were almost human-like, but obviously lacked the emotional capacities of such beings.

[Kurt's usually pretty good at identifying people, so it's not really a surprise for him to perk at the familiar voice, vibrant eyes glittering with enthusiasm.]

Hallo, mister Varric! Oh, ja, my body is back to normal now.

[He snorts a laugh when Kurt admits he's already eaten a box.] Well, it is pretty good chocolate. [No judgment here. This guy would eat ice cream three meals a day if he could.

[He shakes his head then, and gestures toward a bench where they can sit and chat.]

Nah, two planets is no big deal. I traveled to a whole bunch of different worlds back home. [He sits down and threads his hands together behind his head, the box of chocolate resting in his lap.] When I was a kid, I didn't even know there were other worlds, but now? I've been do like... I dunno, over a dozen, probably.

[He frowns a little at the way Kurt pauses then, feeling like he sort of understands what wasn't said.] I've heard of New York, but I never went there, myself. Heard of Germany, too, but never made it there, either. Had some German chocolate cake, once, but I dunno if that counts for anything.

I grew up in a place called Radiant Garden, but... I'd be pretty surprised if anybody here had heard of it. It's pretty small.

Sehr gut. And sehr wunderbar works on like... people, food, everything?

Yeah, we trained with robots too, but none of them were like... sentient or anything. I was part of the Galaxy Garrison so we had to take a round of everything. Wasn't a big fan of the fighting and I was kinda hoping to avoid it once school was over.

[Sudden realization -- Hunk has effectively just like, skipped out on weeks or months of school.] ... oh man. I'm gonna fail out of the Garrison. My mom's gonna be so mad.

Ja, it does! Sehr simply means 'very', so 'very' gut. [Except he still has an accent, haha.]

Sounds familiar, actually. When I was rescued from Germany and brought to America, I was taken to a school that I ended up enrolling into and now, we practice fighting on a weekly basis. It's to protect ourselves and others from people that might try to start problems, but it's somewhat hard on a pacifist. [He chuckles and rolls his shoulders in a shrug.

Although, at the recognition on Hunk's face, Kurt's brow creased ever so slightly.] I don't think she would be too angry with you, once you explain what happened! We still have the possibility of going home, right?

You didn't tell me you were a grown adult. Just figured you were a smart kid. [Whatever, whatever, Varric doesn't look too perturbed by the whole thing. He grinned at the young man, just as personable as ever.] How did you like those chocolates?

Okay, okay. So what about "Me" and "You?" How do I say those?

Oh, you're a pacifist? That's really cool, actually. My mom believes really heavily in pacifism. I ... try. I'm not an angry guy, you know? I didn't think I'd ever need the skills 'cause, c'mon. Engineer. What, am I gonna fight with a switch box? [He lets out a short laugh.] But now I have this huge gun and a huge robot lion and I have to fight stuff all the time. And I know that it's to keep other people safe, but.. even if they're the enemy, they're still people with families, you know?

[He bites the inside of his cheek.] No, no I mean before here. We kinda got.. sucked through a portal by the Garrison and were taken like, thousands of lightyears away at least. We've been out there for months, before we ended up here even.

I'm glad that you enjoy it. [If he doesn't eat something sugary at least once a day, that means it's probably been a really bad day. Or he's fasting.

Lea motions toward the seat and Kurt nods, following after and sitting down next to him. Close enough to where they don't have to shout, but with space between to not cause any awkwardness.]

Were you some sort of cross country agent or something? [His feet absently kick back and forth, palms planted and his fingers curling around the edge of the bench.] You say other worlds, though ... Are you speaking of space traveling? Like, what the crew were doing before their ship crashed?

[It's not exactly a discussion to be having with someone he's only just met; he might end up running people away, if he did that every time. Although, not many people get to hear about his life before his move to America.] Germany will always be my homeland, but New York is ... it's huge. I'd suggest going, should you get the chance.

Can't say I've heard of it, but with a name like 'Radiant Garden', it must be a nice place to live!

... I suppose I didn't, huh? My apologies if it seemed like I was misinforming you. [Thankfully, the man on the other side of the screen doesn't look too upset, but ... had he said smart? Varric thought he was intelligent?

That comment and the mentioning of the chocolates he'd gotten from Varric back when they'd been near the caves makes him smile again.] They were great! Didn't last as long as I thought they would, but I decided to share some.

'Me' is mich and 'you' is du. Together, it would be: "Ich und Du."

I am. I've never really understood the point of fighting when it does nothing, but cause more pain. Completely understandable to not think about battle training in a career of that choice. [He nods his head in a comprehensive manner, flicks the spade of his tail over his left shoulder and sighs quietly.] I do know, ja. The first battle I got into was against this mutant that had a serious god complex. The people that followed him were different; he played off their emotions - took advantage of the turmoil they were in. He had to be stopped, though.

[He simply won't mention what had happened with the plane crash or the events that followed after that.] Oh, oh! I thought you meant--well, nevermind what I thought, but really? How did you end up getting sucked through a portal?

And mutants are people with fancy powers where you're from, right? Sucks that you're fighting each other. We have a similar guy where I'm from. He used to be a part of our team, even. Now all he wants to do is tear the world apart.

Ugh, long story. Has to do with how we found our lions, though, and a lot of it is still sort of up in the air. But basically we landed there, were told our new jobs were to fight for the justice of this galaxy, and had no way to get home. It was a good cause and I'm glad we're doing it, just... I dunno.

[He shakes his head and brings back his smile.] So ... okay, first German sentence here. Du ist wunderbar! [He tries to sound confident but he warbles a little on the end; he's pretty sure he got something wrong, but hey, that's how you learn right?]

That's right! Everybody's powers vary, too. It's incredible how many different abilities there are. [A brief pause as he contemplates the similarities of their lives. He'd thought Hunk and his friends were human, but from the sounds of it, they're all special people, no matter what sort of 'beings' they may be. The fact they are fighting for a similar cause is also interesting to him.] We have quite a lot in common, Hunk.

[Kurt withdraws the left hand from his back pocket and raises it to rub the mussed spikes at the back of his head.] It's a lot to take in all at once. I can understand why you might be slightly hesitant to jump right into something like that. I'm uncertain myself, but I know my teammates probably have doubts of their own, too.

[When Hunk smiles, he lets his own features soften, the edges of his lips quirking at the other male's first attempt at speaking German. He's heard his native tongue a million times, though when the words click, the blue-skinned teen's eyes widen as he lifts his head to better meet Hunk's gaze. No, it's not perfect, but that's what makes the attempt even more admirable.

Cheeks tinting violet, Kurt sheepishly dips his head and threads his digits through the hair at his nape.] Dankeschön, or in English, "Thank you."

[If he didn't say it quite right, by the purple on Kurt's cheeks he at least got the meaning across. He grinned a little, fighting the urge to rub the back of his neck again.]

You're welcome. Don't know how to say that one yet, so. [Aaaand now you're babbling, Hunk.]

Oh! [He smacks his forehead with his palm] We've been standing out here talking all this time, didn't even think. You wanna just come inside?

[Wonderful, wonderful; it's a word that he's spoken time and time again, but this is the first time he's heard it as a description for himself. He clears his throat and shifts from one foot to the other, lowering his arm to his side while bringing those iridescent eyes back up to Hunk's face.]

Oh, 'you're welcome' is bitteschön. [Is he feeding into it by answering? He's really liking the fact that Hunk is wanting to learn his language.]

Uhm, ja, sure! I don't think I have any other chocolates to deliver right now.

He is not here. But if he were I do not think he would let the doctors look at him.

Oh, none of that, Spades. Shit was all types of weird back on... whatever the hell that place was called. I never exactly told you I didn't have a crossbow naturally attached to my back now did I? [Somehow, Varric's smile seemed to grow at Kurt's own, despite the fact that he thought he was at his widest.]

Nothing wrong with sharing. In fact, I'm glad you did. Makes that kind of shit all the better, if you ask me. [He laughed, a boisterous sort of rumble.] Tell you what, next time I come across more chocolate like that, I'll buy it up and bring it to you.

do doctors make him uncomfortable? is it the needles?

[A hardly stifled snort at that: 'Spades' - it's a unique nickname and Kurt might just get used to it.] No, you didn't, although I could have made the assumption.

[He blushes sheepishly at that comment and the spirited laughter, pleased with himself both for sharing and making Varric laugh.] Oh, that's extremely flattering, but shouldn't you save your money for things you might want or need?

Bitte-- [Hunk choked on the word, laughing a little.] I think I'm gonna have to practice that one.

Awesome, come on in! [He sweeps his large arm towards the entrance on the porch.] I just made some cookies if you're interested. Chocolate chip. My team's eating 'em like they're starving, so act fast. [He turned to glance at him over his shoulder, grin wide.]

[The more bashful and visibly embarrassed he gets the more does it boost her own confidence and smugness. Seems like her curious looking guest still remembers their last meeting when he accidentally stumbled upon an intimate moment she was sharing with Peter. J's not one to care about such things, which only made this awkwardness even more hilarious to her.

She crooks her finger, inviting him to come closer as he takes the shy steps and then extends her arm to take the box of chocolate from him]

Thank you. My first Valentine's chocolate in this world.

[Kurt, you're in good company. If Lea doesn't find an ice cream shop soon, he might just go crazy. He quirks his mouth in thought then.]

Mm, something like that. I guess you could say I was a... field investigator? [That's about he most innocuous way to put it, anyway.] My job was mostly to check out new locations and gather info on certain places and people. And yeah, I did a lot of travel between worlds. Planets, I guess, a lot of people call 'em? Not so much with crashing, usually, though. [He's not going to try and explain that you can't crash a Corridor of Darkness, really.]

I'll add New York to my list of places to check out next time I'm free, for sure. I like big cities--there's always something exciting going on there, you know? I spent some time in London, love that big clock they have there. Too bad it's usually raining, so the sunset's hard to fully appreciate.

[Lea gives a small chuff of a laugh then, and there's something a little bitter in it.]

It was a really nice place to live, when I was a kid, but... well, a lot of stuff's happened. The whole world was almost completely destroyed at one point. The Restoration Committee has been doing a lot of work to try and fix things up, but I think it'll be a while before it really looks anything like it used to.

[As long as he doesn't think about the last time they'd happened to 'meet up' in this room, he should have no problem getting through this and going right back to his other 'deliveries', as Badou had so eloquently put it. Kurt hadn't seen anything ridiculously indecent, but it had still been a bit awkward.

He continues toward J, briefly eying the gesturing of her hand then drawing his attention back to her face as he's allowing the candy to be taken. His hands withdraw, tucking behind his back at the base of his tail.]

You're welcome. I hope that you find them enjoyable.

[He blinks in surprise at the abruptly ended word then huffs an airy sort of giggle in return.] Practice makes perfect, mein freund!

Thank you. [Kurt steps up onto the porch, features visibly perking and his eyes sparking to life while he follows close behind Hunk. He meets the taller boy's gaze with an enthusiastic show of fangs, the heart-shaped end of his tail flicking.] I'm definitely interested. How could I say no to cookies?

I'll just have to keep pestering you for more practice, then. [ Another grin. ]

[ They made their way inside, Hunk pausing by the door to let Kurt enter. ] Never trust a guy who doesn't like cookies. [ He gave a solemn nod and closed the door behind Kurt, nodding towards the kitchen. He caught his first real glance at the guy's tail though and grinned. ] Hey, your tail is heart shaped! That's seriously adorable.
