That is a little more... complicated. [Pidge shifts her positioning a little bit, like she's getting comfortable to do something that might take a while.] There's this energy here in this part of the multiverse that can cross through reality and space-time and pull things - people mostly, but apparently items too - into this universe. There used to be machines that could harness that energy and use it to peoples' advantage, but you can probably guess that it all went pretty terribly after prolonged exposure to the Ingress. Typical, really, but that's what happens with that kind of tech without extensive testing but you have to admit that it's actually really impressive...
