It occurred to me the other day that I haven't had a chance to write anything, and that's, to me, a little depressing. There's been so much here that's happened, not just to myself and the friends I've made, but to everyone else. To you.

My day job, back home, for those of you who don't know me, it deals with investigative journalism. I write to uncover the truth, to shed light on scenarios that are otherwise dark and bleak.

Since I got here, everything has been nothing but a whirlwind of events. Each month there's been something new; whether it's stopping off at various planets, or it's daily occurrences on the ship. [ RIP Moira. ] There hasn't been time for me to sit down and write it all out.

[ Elena pauses and her eyes drift downward, off to the left. For those who knew about the incident with the Descendants, how she'd walked away from that moment on the ship with her left arm broken and bleeding out where it'd bitten her...she no longer wears a splint and padded cast. There's no visible sling. It's almost as though none of that had ever happened.

An injury as deep as that, bones needed time to mend. They needed a full two months. It's been less than that.

It shows that she's trying to think of how to word what she wants to say next, without giving anything away. ]

I'm interested in writing about abilities. [ Here she looks up, looks directly into the TAB camera. ] I'm interested in learning about them.

That's just it, it wasn't a city of gold. Not like how it's depicted in the stories.

He wasn't alone. Sully and I were there with him. We were also trying to work out how to keep this from falling into the wrong hands.

[He rolls his eyes a little at the mention of Sully--Victor has always been practically sewn to Drake's hip, there's no surprise there.]

That's awfully unspecific. I'd imagine anybody else's hands are the 'wrong hands' for a fortune in gold.

His name was Gabriel Roman. He was also a treasure hunter. His partner was Navarro.

[ Not that it mattered, both were long gone dead. ]

[Now there's a name he hadn't heard in a while—but he had heard of him, as he was definitely in the circle of clients he knew of back when he and Drake were on friendlier terms.]

Ohhhh yeah, I know of him. Heard he was a real prick.

He was...something like that, yeah. Anyway, El Dorado isn't a city. It's a statue.

Still made of gold though, yeah?

Sure is.

And you lot snaked it away from Roman?

[ That draws out a laugh. Probably her first ever with Harry Flynn. ]

If you consider dropping the statue down into the Pacific Ocean snaking it away, sure, we'll go with that.

[flynnitomite]

[Oh. Well that explains why he found Drake sulking at a bar in Greece, then. Flynn looks devastated.]

You did what?!

It wasn't safe, Harry. It was a sarcophagus. Whatever was inside was dangerous.

So dump whatever was inside into the ocean instead.

Opening it up in the first place was a big mistake. Roman paid for that.

What, was it a mummy's curse or summat?

[He laughs. That would be silly. There aren't mummies in Panama.]

An airborne virus, from the mummy of El Dorado. Roman breathed in whatever was inside and it...changed him.

[ He can laugh all he wants... ]

Like a zombie movie? You're having me on, right?

[His laugh cuts short. Now a few months ago that would have been ridiculous. But after he Angry Blueman Group in Shambhala? Zombies are down to earth.]

This isn't a joke, Harry. Don't you think that if the statue had been safe and we'd taken Roman and Navarro out of the picture, we'd be swimming in riches right now?

[ Of course not here in this fucked up space world. But back home; they could almost have it all, have it easy, with all that money, her and Nate. ]

[flynnitomite]

I dunno, Victor could've blown it all on a bad investment.

[He shrugs.]

Well he didn't. He would never backstab Nate like that.

[ Unlike some people. ]

[flynnitomite]

Easy, easy, I was implying nothing of the sort. Believe you me, I know the two of them are peas in a pod.

[Sullivan had a problem with running up debts, that's all. He pinches the bridge of his nose, then winces. That was a bad idea, seeing as it was still on the mend from when she broke it.]

Right. So. El Dorado wasn't a city, but some sort of zombifying statue that you plunged into the ocean.

[tearsinajar]

[ If she came with feathers, they wouldn't be so ruffled. ]

I wouldn't call it zombifying. I think it had more to do with mutation. And it was safer being dropped in the ocean.

[flynnitomite]

You know I liked it better when it was all fun and crime and none of all this supernatural mutant mumbo-jumbo.

[He pauses.]

This is all very interesting and a bit disturbing, but you still haven't answered my question, Elena.

[He says her name as though he would a compliment.]

[ He says her name and it takes her moment for it to sink in. Oh. Weird. ]
