Hi all — just a small announcement.

I know we have quite a few new arrivals on board, so, quick introduction: the name's Shepard, I'm the Assistant Head of the Tower. Any issues on that front, feel free to reach out to myself or Ryuuzaki.

But what I actually want to talk about is this: [Here, she steps out of the video's frame, letting it fall across an incredible aquatic paradise. There's fish, jellyfish, corals, seaweeds, microwhales, anemones, sea-snakes — you name it, if it swims, it seems to have some sort of representation here.

Also present is Andyr, in the background, kicking a filter with a look of clear irritation. Shepard continues to speak, a disembodied voice as the camera moves around the tanks, showcasing their inhabitants.] The Moira Aquarium.

Andyr and I received some pretty ridiculous supplies in the mail a while back, and with permission, we've been working on getting them all set up for the rest of the ship to enjoy. We're even getting some scuba and snorkeling time set up! Got an interest in aquatic life? Feel free to come by and take a look.

[The video focuses for a moment on the largest tank, a serene picture of beauty — before Andyr walks into the frame, face etched with suspicion of countless would-be aquarium ruffians. He gestures at the tanks, points two fingers at his own eyes, then points at the camera, accusingly. There's a beat of laughter before the recording cuts.]

[That is one impressive aquarium. Though it's not enough to distract her from the obvious concern.]

Sounds like you're stretching yourself quite bit there. You know there's only 24 hours in a day. [What about the dish washing???]

[ andyr is perhaps especially grouchy today, between filter issues, people entering his fish room, and this other bit - ]

These kids keeps asking for candy. All I have is algae leaves... [ spoken morosely, as he stares down into a plastic tub of little dried out squares he'd been attaching to clips inside some of the tanks. Shepard, what do?? ]

I'm sorry I cant partake of the scuba diving. But that's quite a feat you've pulled off there.

[ She raises her eyebrows and smiles. Dutch can remember when the aquarium was a scattered mess of parts on that room's floor. ]

Quite impressive. I'll have to come by and take a look for myself.

That's... that's incredible.

[He is totally awestruck by that. How long has it been since he's seen an aquarium?]

Oh! Hey! You got fish!

[He remembers that conversation they had, forever ago, about the best kinds of fish.]

Awesome.

[So this is what she's been up to when she hasn't been working.]

What kind of safety precautions have you taken?

[Look, Shep: who dives for fun?]

[how dare u suggest she's not a superhuman job machine that never sleeps]

Actually, when you divide it up, it's a lot of time.

Even more if you're running from place to place, and packing healthy meal replacement options.

[It's somewhere in the middle of saying "meal replacement" that she realizes how work-obsessed it sounds. She adds, helpfully:]

I still take plenty of downtime, though.

[Training is downtime.]

[Finishing the upload, she glances at Andyr as he speaks, following his line of sight to the algae leaves.]

The trick-or-treaters? Wait, have you been giving them those?

I'm not even going to pretend it was easy — like a DIY project gone wrong a thousand times before you finally get it right. Fish don't really tolerate mistakes.

It's definitely worth a look. [Behind her, an eel makes its way past, seeeking out a new hidey-hole in its tank, expression extremely pleasant.] Good for catching up on reading, too. The filters generate a pretty calming white noise, if you like that sort of thing.

Much appreciated — we spent the better part of a month on it, so it's nice to finally be able to show it off.

[And, catching his expression:] Aquarium enthusiast?

We got a whole lot of fish.

Even more little red stripey guys, too. You should come check it out.

[After work, she retires to some relaxing work, followed closely by (for a change of pace) some work, before she turns in to bed, lays there for a few minutes, and gets back to working on other work.]

With regards to the tanks, or the diving?

For the tanks, there's an emergency backup system in triplicate, which should function even if the Moira ship engine shuts down again. For any concern about future ship rolls, structures are secured in place with bolts, environment-friendly glues, and have emergency seals for gravity shifts and potential spills. We maintain the filters, but they're pretty hands-off — next time we'll have to really clean them out should be in a year or so.

For the diving and snorkeling, I'm a certified master diver, so I'm more or less in my element, there. Tanks are coded and keyed to myself and Andyr's details, so there shouldn't be any huge worries about break-ins, unless someone is particularly determined. As long as one of us is around, there shouldn't be any mishaps.

That said, if there is any, we have a non-stop security surveillance system trained on every corner of the room — anything going on in here is sent straight to our MIDs. Andyr is around pretty constantly, as well, so it would be that rare scenario for anything to really hit the fan.

Still, I've got a backup or two for that.

I've never kept them. Though I've lived close to the ocean for a while. I know how sensitive sea life can be.

[Also he's sure he'll feel hungry while he's in there but he's not going to say this.]

I take it Andyr had a good time, too. [Which is good since the last time he saw him, he was frothing at the mouth.]

[ he's still frothing at the mouth. Just about something different now. But, such is the state of Andyr Prince. But he hears Miller's voice and pops in from his own MID. ]

I hate some assembly required. [ ikea hell, kaz. ]

It's basically the coolest thing on the ship.

[ said completely straight faced. He's serious about fish, ok? ]

[ instead, he holds up another tub, with little orange flakes in it. ]

I gave 'em these.

[ the algae leaves are expensive, ok, he's not waiting that on hungry children, excuse u, Shepard. ]

It's not exactly you can get through a door. Where did you find the fish?

[ She eyes the eel curiously. Dutch hasn't seen many aquatic creatures in her lifetime save for the time she had a roommate with a betta. ]

I think everyone aboard this ship could use a little stress relief.

That I did! And it looks much better than it did when I was working on it.

[ She grins. ]
