video;

[ Because she's reminded of the technology back home, this should be easy. It's not her first time she's had to make a call using Skype, or something similar. Video is the option Chloe opts for. ]

My name's Chloe― Chloe Decker. [ She doesn't notice it, the self-conscious gesture of tucking her hair behind her ear, but she sets her jaw as she pushes on, voice unwavering. Completely the opposite to how she feels on the inside. ] I guess you could say I arrived here just the same as a lot of you have, as crazy as it seems. If no one minds answering a few questions, I'd really appreciate it.

Are there any parents on this ship, mothers and/or fathers? Did you... Are there any children on-board?

[ 'What happens to them when you agree to the contract? Where do they go?' ― extra questions she bites her tongue on. Instead Chloe gives a smile that's barely a twitch of her lips. ]

Again― thanks.

[ Obviously she's not ready to end the face-time just yet as she pauses. ]

...I had a gun and a pair of handcuffs with me. Someone please tell me this place comes with a 'lost and found'?

Oh. That's kind of cool, I guess. [Or not... Well...] I didn't know there was different jobs for cops or detectives. I just thought you guys did the same thing. [Two-three years ago and up until a moment ago that was indeed what he had always believed. He hadn't really thought about it 'til now.

She can't see it, but he nods, breathing out a little too close to the MID speaker phone to cause it emit the sound over with mild static. He agrees that's all any of them can do. And takes a moment to think on her question. How long exactly was he here?]

Yeah. Um, I think... almost three months. [He doesn't want either of them to think about that too much given that they have both have important reasons to get home, so he quickly follows up with a question of his own.] Did they assigned you as something like that here too? A detective, I mean.

That makes sense, I guess. They wouldn't want you not to know the same stuff - right?

[She's free to answer, but he's fine if she doesn't. He's got enough of the whole picture of what she is now anyway.

Her cut of makes him realize just how what he said may upset her and on his end he frowns (at himself, mind you) as well.]

Sorry. [He apologizes in a low voice, quickly moving on.] A- a pilot? That's totally different than a detective. I thought they try to give you a job that you know how to do here but I was wrong.

A chauffeur? [He quizzes that for a moment because there's a luxurious thought he has never had for many years. It's mostly rhetorically stated though. His mind just needs a moment to go over the idea before continuing to follow her point.] Right. Um, it'd be easier if we all could stick to our strengths. But if you can drive, you can't learn to pilot.

[He thinks so anyway. It's a positive at least.]

Or you can ask for another job.

I don't see why you can't. If they want us to work, they should make sure we know what we're doing.

[He may or may not be actually right. He's still a kid and he believes strongly that you should only have someone in a job they fit and do good in for themselves and the community crew as a whole.

He smiles on his end, feeling happy to have helped, even though she can't see it.]
