[Dealing with people face to face is hard, even if Pidge were to do it via communicator. She doesn’t know anyone here, and she’s hesitant to even be addressing the entirety of the Moira’s crew all at once like this. So she opts for the easier mode of communication: text. It’s like talking to the internet that way, and… Well, to be perfectly frank, that’s easier for her to handle.]

Hello, Moira crew. [Behind the screen she winces. Even she can tell that sounds awkward. But she presses on.] I’m new to this ship, but not new to space travel - trust me - but I am trying to gather some more information than what was given to me. Hoping someone onboard can help me out.

First: If the word “Voltron” means anything to you, contact me.

Second: If you know anyone with the last name “Holt”, contact me ASAP.

[There’s another hesitant moment before the typing resumes.] I can help out with any tech stuff in exchange for any useful information you’ve got. I’m good at it, and I’ve worked with alien tech before. The stuff here is new to me, but they gave me a job that works with it pretty closely, so I’m pretty sure I can figure it out soon enough. So: you help me, I help you. Fair, right?

Well, if it's coming through, here. [He holds up a notebook to the camera with two pages, side by side of sketches. He only saw Shiro's top half, so it's basically from the waist up, but that's definitely Shiro's armor. There's a lot of exceptional detail and a ton of notes.]

[Also, Darin didn't bother sketching Shiro's face, so there's an equivalent of a Walmart smiley where his face should be.]

[He's going to get the most unimpressed silence in the land while she watches him clearly struggling with using the comm. But then he's showing the sketch of the armor and-- Yes. There doesn't have to be a face when the paladin armor is already so distinct.]

Yeah...only one I've met so far that's mentioned anything about it. I've only been here for a few days though. I've been trying to figure out how all of this space technology works.

I did tell Shiro I'd keep an eye out for his team, though.

it's not technically "space technology", btw. some of it looks like advanced human tech, but the rest of it looks like it comes from a different alien civilization.

I literally have no idea what any of that is. This is such a far cry from my world is capable of that I don't even really have words to describe it.

The only ships I'd ever heard of before coming here were the ones that sailed the oceans. Not the stars. Hell, it took me a day to figure out how to barely work this thing on my wrist.

The most advanced science from my world is magic. Like...literally magic. I'm not trying to exaggerate how little I understand.

[If someone had told Pidge a month ago that people really believed in real magic, she would've laughed in their face. But now Pidge pilots a giant robotic lion that shares some kind of weird mystic mental bond with her, so... She can't really say that sounds all that strange anymore.]

Either way, I couldn't use magic, but at least this looks like something I can learn. Albeit slowly.

Not to say I'm not interested. They've got me working in engineering so I'm learning a lot. It's just overwhelming.

engineer. someone who builds tech would be called an engineer, and that's probably why they put you in engineering. they put me in navigation, which seems kinda weird, but at least I still get to learn about how the ship functions

You seem pretty used to all of this. I hope you don't mind if I pick your brain from time to time until I get reasonably up to speed.

it's just not my first time ending up in an unknown part of space, that's all. but I guess it's okay if you ask when you need some help with some tech

Up until about a month ago, I hardly ever left my own hometown. Now I find out that there's an infinite amount of worlds and people out there?

I mean...there's so much to see! To learn! Every day is literally a new adventure!
