[Thanks to a gorgeous, no-nonsense brunette he'd stumbled across in the hospital section of the ship, Jimmy's got the basics down for the MIDs. It'd taken him a couple tries, but you live and you learn and you sometimes fuck up. A few taps, quite a few considering the state of his prosthetic, and his face pops up on the network - curly hair styled, and a wide grin for anyone and everyone.]

Anyone from the 1950's? Heard that people round here are from all over the place. I need someone from back then to catch me up on some local news.

[Jimmy's wrapped his head around the fact that people come from different times, but alternate universes - well, that's going to take a minute.]

So if any of you good lookin' folks can point me in the right direction, i'd be mighty grateful.

If everyone's from the future, why doesn't anybody know anything? Figure that far ahead people'd at least be smarter. Someone said somethin' about chips with all kinds of books on them and nobody thought to store up newspapers?

Probably because not everyone's from the same future. Have you seen many science fiction flicks? Because the whole alternate universes thing is totally real here. Nobody could tell you for sure what's going to happen in your world, not without a lot more information about where you're from.

[Jimmy needs some time to process that. Much the same way he does a lot of what else he's heard. He worries about his family and now he might never know if they're alright.]

How many are there? Or is that one of those things nobody knows?

Dude, I don't even know if any of the geniuses around here know. I know of at least two or three other versions of my universe existing, so how many others are out there is anyone's guess.

It's kind of a weird thing. You'll eventually get used to it. Probably.
