Why isn't it working? Come on!!
[Nux's voice carries, a little too loud, before his face appears on camera. He looks into the device, squints a bit as if studying it and then--]
Is this on? Is it working? [Yes!]
This is so shine... [He grins. He's in his uniform, war paint scrubbed off his face but there are scars clearly visible. On his lips, nose, and two large lumps on the side of his neck, but his grin is wide and enthusiastic.]
I've seen things I never thought possible before... that I never thought I would do in a million years. How many of you out there have come from places like this?
My home... my world, it's dead. Salt as far as the eye can see. Water was rationed... We were told not to depend on it, that it would make us weak when it was finally gone. It isn't like here at all, where we have food and water...
When I first arrived... I thought it was Valhalla for a moment.
[Even rationed, everything was still more plentiful than at home. He pauses, thoughtful. There was more point to this than all that though.]
Tell me, where did you come from? What was it like and do you want to return to it?

[The name catches his attention in a way few things have recently, a reminder of Asgard and his family. The world described doesn't sound like one he's familiar with, however, and after a moment he shrugs, one hand up with the palm out.]
Is this really how you pictured the halls of the dead?
no subject
[Then again, that was if he'd had a good death... and while he considers it a good one, it's complicated.]
But it's close... so very close to what I always imagined.

[It hides all the spills and dropped food quite nicely...]
Already dead, back home?
no subject
[Because it sounds like it...]
Dying.

[Dead Lokis don't go to Valhalla, and if he's been there, it's been sneakily, and probably he really shouldn't have been there. Loki has no place with the einherjar, living or dead.]
So sure you won't survive whatever happened?
no subject
[It sounds fascinating and Nux can't help but want to know more about where the dead can truly live again and again... or at the very least, sneak into Valhalla.]
Even if I survive what happened before I arrived, I'm already at the end of my life.
[He idly motions to his neck, shrugging his shoulders.]
no subject
[He shrugs. It's odd, someone having heard of Valhalla without some idea of who Loki is, but maybe this Nux just hasn't figured out that he can see people's names on the MID yet.]
Not that I remember most of them, of course.
[And the qualifier, because Loki isn't supposed to remember... He tilts his head, but honestly, human conditions don't mean an awful lot to him, so whatever's going on with Nux's neck means very little to him.]
Oh? Some kind of illness?
no subject
[He can't help but sound skeptical all over again, though it's tinged with a bit of excitement.
He nods at the question.]
My mates, they're pressing in, making it hard to breathe. They don't get me, the night fevers will.
Or they were going to. They're helping me here.
no subject
[He pulls a face at the scepticism. It's bad enough when people haven't heard of any of the Norse gods, but worse when they've obviously only heard parts of the story- the uninteresting parts, in Loki's opinion.]
Your... mates?
no subject
[What a strange thought. ]
Where I come from, the world is covered in saltwater, with islands interspersed. You can't drink it when it's in that state, so freshwater is often rationed on long journeys.
[ That's where the similarities end, though. ]
There are ways to convert it, though, and the sea is full of life and things that can be eaten, if you're strong enough to catch them.

No more green places left. The lands are too sour for that anymore.
[Mostly anyway... there was the Citadel, but-- he's too focused on what he's being told, eyes widening at the thought of a world of nothing but water.]
... How do you catch them?
no subject
[Presumably not vegetation, of course. But then the question arises: What does their food eat?]
You place a piece of bait on a hook and lower it onto the water. When one of the creatures bites onto it, the hook will get caught in their flesh and you can pull them upward.
And then, depending on how large the creature is, you have to fight it.

My home is a desert. Few things live and grow there. Not much water, either.

Was it rationed for you?

Have you been to the gardens yet? I bet you'd like it.
Audio
[Learning about new machines, new ways of doing something... he thinks his mates back home would be jealous right now.]
The gardens? The green place... [He shakes his head no.] Been working.
Audio
[Like when they fired on the Boxer Rebellion.]
Mm... working on what?
It's kinda nice havin' stuff like running water 'round here, but this ship still ain't home to me.
[Or it sounds like anyway...]
You want to go back to it?
[Shrugs go here.]
Yeah. May be a rough neighborhood, but it's mine. Couldn't just walk away from it and live all comfortable, I figure.

[hello here's a robot.]
Where I'm from is a lot like this ship, but an entire planet. Lots of metal.

[Pharah's wearing her blue Raptora armor system, though she's got the helmet set on a table nearby.] I am sorry to hear about your world. How did it die, if you don't mind my asking?
