[Video] Only one Captain

[The video feed comes on, showing one Leonard Snart in his full Cold gear, goggles on but pushed up to his forehead, hood of his coat up and making him look a bit larger than life.]

So, we've got a new Captain on the ship, huh? Wonder why we never heard of 'em before now. And what happened to the, what, four we had before? Seems that's just a few too many.

[He brings his cold gun up and rests it casually against his shoulder. It's not powered up, of course, but it's obviously being shown off.]

In case I haven't introduced myself properly before, back home I'm known as Captain Cold. And I ain't used to taking orders from other people who like to call themselves "Captain". I get the feeling there's a few others of you 'round here who might feel the same, hm?

[She rolls her eyes and sighs, sounding almost bored.]

Organizing an uprising, are we?

[Dutch waggles her eyebrows and eyes 'Captain Cold'. As much as she pretends to be bored with him, he's caught her interest. At least for the moment.]

Why exactly are you called Captain Cold, anyhow?

Oh, nothing so devious. Merely... gauging interest, let's say. [He's not one to stick his neck out for anyone, but this ship is starting to feel a little too restrictive.]

I didn't choose the name, but I've grown to appreciate it. [Cisco Ramon always did have a flair for dramatic names, much to Snart's amusement.] Let's just say I have some rather cool toys to play with. [He shifts the gun back from his shoulder to slip it into the holster on his thigh.] What do they call you?

[She can't hold back a chuckle. Captain Cold. Cool toys. Get it? Dutch smiles and nods.] Well, it works for you, Cold. Whoever named you knew what they were doing.

Me? I've got no jazzy nickname, I'm afraid. Just the name I was born with. [Dutch gives a small shrug of her shoulders.] Friends and enemies alike call me Dutch Velders.

[Oh, there's plenty more puns where that one came from, just wait. He offers a slight smirk in return... always glad to meet someone who can appreciate his cool sense of humor.]

Friends and enemies, hm? Do you have more of one or the other, Dutch?

Well... [She winces slightly.]

Hate to bore you, but on this ship the number of friends far outweighs the number of enemies. Back home, on the other hand, my enemies must be in the hundreds.

[She wrinkles her eyebrows slightly.] How about you? What sorts of relationships are you cultivating aboard the Moira?

Now what could a nice girl like you have done to make so many enemies? [Teasing, but prodding lightly for information.]

Me? Oh, you know. A little of both. [He hasn't made any outright enemies here, yet, but he hasn't let anyone close enough to call friend, either.] I find acquaintances to be the most useful, really. Allies, even more so.

I'm new, I'm afraid I don't know the nuances of the recent apparent takeover. Is there anything I should be aware of?

[It's tricky coming into a new place like this, even more so when it's undergoing a change of management. Not a bad idea to talk with the locals and get a feel for the situation.]

Where I come from, Captains don't dress so ridiculously.

[ He'd slow clap if he could, but right now he just looks amused. Those goggles look ridiculous, buddy.]

It's less that I make new enemies and more that the old ones keep multiplying. [She smirks.] An unfortunate trait for enemies to have for sure.

Isn't that how it usually goes? But true allies are few and far between. [Her eyebrows raise slightly.] A shame, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

[He's practically calling them out.]

Not a whole lot of nuance to it, from what I can see. We used to have four people who called themselves "Captain" on this ship. Weird, but okay. Then this new one comes on and all of a sudden he's in charge? And the other four just... disappear?

I don't buy it, and I don't like it. Don't particularly feel like following along with 'em, either.

It does sound like a sketchy situation. There aren't a lot of options though, to the alternative ... are there?

[She's thinking of course of organized protests, a call for transparency, seeking justice without resorting to vigilantism.]

I should point out that the Captain has never reported for duty.

Well hello there, boss. Sorry, tending the library wasn't terribly high on my priority list.

[Someone isn't sorry at all.]

Maybe that's part of the plan, you never know.

Yeah, know the feeling. [Funny how those pesky "friends" keep trying to multiply too.]

So, Dutch, what do you do? Life of crime, or something more mundane?

[Life of crime. Yeah, like she'd ever blatantly own up to that.] Oh, nothing mundane. Prior to chaos taking over back home I was a bit of a hacker. Knew my way around computers pretty well. I've been trying to get to know the systems aboard the Moira just as well.

[She cants her head to the side.] Judging by the way you asked that question am I to assume you favor the former rather than the latter?

Thank God I was sitting down.

[He has a sarcasm rival, apparently.]

More to the point, why the sudden rebellion when you've been more or less following around three other 'Captains'?

They do carry shields and have the same colour scheme as the American flag. Maybe terrible fashion sense is a Captain trend after all. What are you the captain of? Captain goggles?

[He appreciates someone who can give it right back.] Well, you know. More important business, ship being attacked, things like that.

Though I did appreciate the... loan of quite a few books. Think I may have forgotten to bring them back. They might still be in my room.

[He huffs a short laugh.] You're assuming I followed their orders. But I guess I just never got the weird feeling off them I do off these guys.

[Of course not. Only a few people would blatantly own up to something like that.] Oh? Finding anything interesting yet?

[He chuckles and holds his hands up in a 'you got me' gesture.] Not so much here, though. Hard to live a thief's life when there's not much worth stealing.

Alternative to what, following blindly? Or outright rebellion?

Don't know, but I'm kinda wondering what they'll do here. Throw us all off at the next planet? [It's entirely possible, he realizes that. But still, no one's going to pull his strings like this without some protest.]

Very funny. [He's not amused.]

Maybe a demonstration would help, hm? [He widens the camera angle and faces it away, the view shifting to a tree in the garden where he's broadcasting. The picture shakes around a bit, turning and angling as it's obvious he's grabbed his cold gun. A bright, blinding blast nearly obliterates the feed for a moment, then clears to show one of the bushes encased in ice and frost.

The camera angle turns again to show Snart with a satisfied smirk on his face.]

That answer some of your questions? [Hopefully about both the goggles and his name.]

[Her eyebrows raise slightly.] Plenty of interesting things. It's like learning a foreign language, though. There's still plenty that I don't understand.

[She smirks, leaning back and looking at him through narrowed eyes.] And what is the best thing you've ever stolen, Cold?

[ A magic gun.

Pietro looks impressed, if only vaguely--that's a good thing--and crosses his arms, leaning back in the chair he's been sitting on for this conversation.

Alright, so this guy's melodramatic, but it looks like he can back it up. That's something he can appreciate. ]

It answers enough. Planning on mutiny?

[Oh you did not.]

[You did not.]

If they are, I suggest you return them sooner rather than later, Leonard.

[You'd think he'd kidnapped her kids.]

Obviously you didn't, you never showed up except to, apparently, liberate some volumes. But no announcement then of your self-given rank, what 'weird feelings' does the Captain have regarding our change in leadership?
