[There's very little preamble before the network gets an earful of the distinctive, raspy tones of a certain ex-cop. Guy sounds like he smokes his cigarettes and eats them too. He also doesn't sound exactly comfortable to be speaking on the network, but anyone who's met him in person in the past few days knows that that forced impassivity is kind of his thing.]

I'm looking for someone who can work with cybernetics. Some know-how with computers or engineering would probably help, but I figure some of that comes with the territory. [A pause, and then:] Discretion preferred.

[The way he says it, one kind of gets the sense that he'd gladly find a way to make even the most indiscreet person suddenly learn the meaning of patient confidentiality– but it's just as easy to believe that that's just the way he talks.

There's another longer pause and then, at length, he adds:]
I'd also be interested in speaking to anyone who can talk about the crewman we've got in the hold.

[Spooky, scary, skeleton-like – you've probably heard of Ploiatos. Adam certainly has, and (being the security-minded guy he is) he'd love to know what having a literal skeleton in the closet entails.

And since Adam Jensen's never exactly been known for ending conversations gracefully, that's where he chooses to cut the message off.

Certainly, no one can say he isn't to-the-point.]

You're free to ask around, but I can already tell you the answer will universally be "huge jackass is good at what he does, has excellent facial hair".

[ And Tony's not disputing a damn thing. ]

My shift ends at 8, which means I'll be done working by 11, or whenever I don't feel like it anymore.

[ Which is technically never, but he'll make an exception, in this case. ]

Yeah. Unofficially. I'm actually a transport tech.

Cryptic and slightly ominous.

[ DON'T LOOK SO THIRSTY, NEWT. ]

Meet me in engineering. We actually have lights down here.

[ Because Tony personally made sure of it. Thanks for nothing, Captain Powercuts. ]

That doesn't surprise me, but I'm certain that it will not come to that. [With so many people to boast of their skills in such areas it shouldn't.]

Any particular problem, or is it one of those things best left to the imagination?

[There is a public key attached in case Jensen would like to proceed through properly encrypted channels. Should he wish to, he should submit his own public key for Spock to encrypt with and use Spock's key to encrypt any future messages.]

It is preferable to discuss things in person if discretion is your wish, but I have attached my public key for your convenience.

To what degree is your inquiry made? While I do not specialize in cybernetics directly, I have significant experience with its individual components.

[ Sam isn't encrypting anything since he's doubting he'll be of much help. Plus if this post is any indication, he's missing some pretty vital information. ]

I'm not sure how much help it would be, but computers and engineering is about the only things I'm good at.

Unfortunately, I figured the four "captains" didn't know what they were doing. Well, three if you don't count Tipota.

And with that in mind I might just go to bed feeling a little warmer tonight. [He kids, but Adam, you gave him permission to use his vivid imagination.

Ah, yes, creature comforts...for Dorian that means balmy climates and peeled grapes.]
I can weather just about anything, but the cold. Maker's breath, I'll never complain about the south again.

[And at present he is bundled wearing just about every layer of clothing he has on top of his blanket. And he thought the Emprise was chilly.]

It's always better to check a cruiser before it crashes. [rey stop he isn't a spaceship] When do you want to get checked out?

We'd all be interested in talking about the crewman in the hold, but the general line seems to be "Don't"... don't go near it, don't get involved if at all possible. They're probably afraid that curiousity may kill some cats... and the rest of us.

I don't think I can help you with your cybernetics -- I have some programming experience, but I wouldn't want someone's senses to rely on it, and you'll find better candidates here. Still, I have to admit that I'm intrigued.

I've done that before, set the curtains on fire in my room once, it never ends well, that's why a staff always makes for a good conduit. [Well, he couldn't exactly be blamed for it either, the conditions were exceptional. As much as Dorian enjoys fire and flashy things he has no desire to set the whole ship aflame for heat.

But it's cold!]

Mmmm...we should have remained on that vacation planet, it was sultry and I rather enjoyed it.

Can't crew a ship without kidnapping some tech specialists across dimensions, apparently.

Somehow I doubt the tech you're outfitted with is exactly like the kind I'm used to. [ Different worlds! Who knows what's out there. ] But it can't be too different -- I work with everything, weapons, armor, ship armaments. Jack-of-all-trades, master of all of them.

[ There's some humor in that boast, but it's clear his confidence is perfectly genuine. ]

If you think I'll be of any help, I'd be happy to take a look. Wouldn't mind hearing that long story, either.
