[Boss is pretty pleased with his new rank of Lautus, as he has a brand new stand-up bath given to him by the ship's captains no less. A handy and helpful tool if there ever was one. But the feed will show not Boss inside the shower..(Thank goodness you might say)...but a dog. Yep, that's right....

...Venom is washing DD in the stand-up shower or trying to. What? It makes a good dog bath, right?]

DD, stay! Damn....can't get the right temperature on this thing.....

[Snake went to turn the knob, as DD stared up at him looking rather wary but obedient none the less. That was until the rush of water coming out of the nozzle hits him. DD howled, as the freezing water hit his fur.]

Damn! DD....what the?- No! DD! Come back!

[Too late. The dog is out of the room before Venom can jump on his dog. Water splashed everywhere and one wet dog is now running amok aboard the ship. Great. Venom turned off the stand-up shower and cursed himself.]

Stupid shower.....how can you wash a dog in it....temperature's all wrong. [Venom now turned his attention towards his MID which was actually on for the whole thing. Really? Damn.]

If anyone sees a wet dog running around the ship he's mine. He's called DD and will answer to that name. It's my fault. Could you please return him to me if you see him or get in contact with me.

[If Ocelot found out? Ocelot finds out about everything. Ahab should know that by now.

The first thing that comes over his transmission is laughter.]

I guess DD doesn't care for all the fancy technology.

[It's about thirty minutes later when Cassandra responds, sitting in the bathroom attached to her room with DD. She has a towel and is working on drying him off.]

I'm pretty sure DD has a lot to say about your bathing techniques.

[Ahab sighed when he saw Ocelot over the network. He knew. He always knew.]

Yeah. It would seem that way. Just wanted to give him a nice hot bath with this thing.

[Snake looked up at the image of Cassandra drying off a wet DD.]

You found him? Thanks. I had no idea where he had gotten to.

Just follow the smell of wet dog and I'm sure you'll find him. It's how I did.

[She's not joking. But she doesn't seem to mind. In fact, she's actually smiling as she uses the towel to dry behind DD's ears.]

I've heard of cats not liking water but this? It's not like him. Maybe the bath scared him. [It was aboard a strange space ship after all. This wasn't like Mother Base.]

Or maybe he just wasn't ready for a shower.

[She shrugs, tossing the towel aside so she can pet and scratch at DD with her hands.]

It's been a long time I've seen a dog. How did you manage to get him on the ship?

Maybe you're right. [What would he know about dog showers? He just trained and worked with DD on the battlefield.]

Ocelot got him through the ship's mail as a present to me. He's a close friend of mine. Dresses like a cowboy.

You mentioned him before, when we first met. I still haven't seen him for myself.

[She's still amused that there's a space cowboy wandering around here somewhere.]

If you meet me in the gardens, I can make sure DD gets back to you safe.

[There's a lot Raiden can be bewildered about in this video--primarily that it's still a little hard to tell if this is Big Boss or one of the Other Snakes running around but more importantly he has a dog.

And those are definitely wet dog tracks Raiden has just encountered on the floor. The video feed starts with some shaky cam as he gets his MID looking at them proper.]

This is Raiden. I found some dog tracks outside of Mero. They're heading towards the gardens, I think...

[He's following them!]

He's around. [Somewhere. Probably training or using his hypnotherapy in the med bay.]

Right. The gardens. [Venom made sure to meet Cassandra in the gardens straight away. DD was probably looking for him too.]

Cassandra?

[Snake had reached the gardens and was looking around for signs or her or his dog.]

Raiden? [Snake was pleasantly surprised to see the young man tracking DD's tracks and on the trail. What a nice guy.]

The gardens? Right. Thanks for helping me with this. It's not often DD runs away like this. [Your bad, Boss.] Think the water scared him.

[DD was looking for him, but Cassandra likes to think that she's doing a good job distracting the dog with a nice walk and lots of attention. She's still fascinated by DD because it's been so long that she's seen a dog that isn't a zombie. That makes this dog special to her.

It doesn't mean DD belongs to her though, so she keeps an eye out for his owner. And when she spots him, she heads right over, DD at her side.]

Next time, you should test the water before shoving him inside.

You need help lookin' for him?

[Ocelot cares about DD, too. He doesn't want the dog to get into any trouble.]

[As tough as it was for him to admit these things he did need help.]

You trained DD so some help would be nice. Yeah. [He means to say sorry for accidentally nearly trying to drown DD in cold water.]

It wasn't intentional.

[Snake spotted DD next to her and smiled. He walked over and greeted his dog, giving him scritches and patting his belly once he rolled over.]

Good dog. Sorry for nearly trying to drown you. [He felt DD's warm tongue over his hand, as he greeted his master. He seemed alright about meeting strangers.]

Thanks for finding DD like this. I thought I'd have to search the whole ship.

[Karen's trying not to laugh, because she's sure the poor guy isn't finding this very amusing.]

When you find him, maybe you should get a little help?

Help As in what?

[Maybe he did need help but he was too proud, or rather, stubborn to ask for it.]

[Cassandra watches him with his dog and smiles a little, but takes a step back. Her job making sure the dog is safe is over, and they need their space.]

I just followed the smell of wet dog, like I said. It's been so long since I've seen a dog that I was excited to find him and help him dry off.

[She doesn't like asking things of others, so she looks a little apprehensive, but manages to ask what she wants to without looking directly at either of them.]

Do you think I could take him on walks or something sometime?

Like...someone to distract him, talk to him. Show him that bath time isn't such a bad thing.

And maybe you should try using a tub. It's gotta be a whole lot easier.

[Snake thought about the idea then decided that it couldn't hurt.]

I thought the stand-up bath would be great for both of us. [Yeah, you're not a dog, Ahab. Nor is DD a man. Silly soldier.]

Didn't know you liked dogs so much.

[Snake offered her a smile and petted DD's head, as he wagged his tail and barked up at his master.]

Sure. Since you helped find him again he'd welcome the company. Would you like that, DD? [He looked down to find the dog barking and licking at Cassandra's hand. Guess that meant a yes.]

[Ocelot is sure DD is fine. He's a tough dog. A little water can't hurt him.]

I'll walk around and see if I can find him. I'm sure he'll come back on his own, though, once he calms down.

Thanks, Ocelot. [Snake knew that DD would come around sometime soon. It was just a bit of water, a shock. The dog has had bullets shot at him so this was a walk in the park. Still, Venom felt bad for the dog.]

Did you ever have a dog whistle on you whilst training DD?

I like any animal that's alive and not zombified.

[It's not so much that she likes dogs as that she's not used to seeing ones that are left alive. Unfortunately, animals were one of the first victims as the zombies quickly multiplied. Animals and children were a rare sight because they were so easy to grab and eat and bite.

So she was glad that DD was alive and had so much personality to him, and she grinned as she crouched down to pet and scratch behind his ears and under his chin.]
