Hey, everyone.

[ Wash greets anyone watching casually and even offers a little wave. There's a slight smile, but it's nothing much, and his eyes have telling dark circles beneath them, a show of lack of sleep. ]

So, uh. Things are kind of shitty right now. At least, that's the way I'm looking at it, but maybe some of you have different thoughts on everything that's happening.

In any case, I thought it might be nice to have even just a tiny distraction. A short time where we can maybe feel okay for a bit, or even enjoy something. So. Basically, I got a huge package of Girl Scout cookies in the mail when it came. Ten boxes of each flavour. If anyone wants a box or two, feel free to reply here or even come and find me. We could also just sit around somewhere, snacking on some cookies and talking if you want.

[ He's not going to admit it here, but he wouldn't mind having a little cookie picnic with someone, or even a couple someones. Being alone is kind of hard right now--he's got too many thoughts in his head. But mostly, he just wants to cheer some people up, including himself, and this is the only way he has to even try doing that right now. ]

I know it's nothing much, but I figured even something small would be a nice change from the mess that this month has been.

I got a deck of cards. You could use the cookies for poker chips, if you wanted to arrange a game.

[ There are a ton of people getting sweets, Yata thinks, but he has yet to really recognize any of them. ]

[There's a very interested little girl, looking at her MID screen with curious eyes.]

That could be interesting. ...Maybe not the most sanitary, but it would probably be fun.

I'll start suggesting it to anyone who replies. See if anyone else would want in.

Girl Scouts are an organization in some places in some of the universes that... Well, it's a group that young girls join and they learn things like stuff important for camping and... I don't know, stuff like that.

[ He wasn't a Girl Scout, okay? He doesn't have exact knowledge of what the organization actually taught the girls. Mostly he knows about the cookies. ]

Every year at a certain time, they'd start going door to door to sell cookies to fundraise for their organization. ...So basically, they're just cookies, but the flavours are pretty well known by the people who live in the places where this all happens.

Yeah!

[ He smiles a little more genuinely. Should have known he'd catch the interest of any kids onboard. ]

I've got eight different flavours. You want some?

Yes.

[She smiles back, not nearly as genuinely. She knows well enough how to fake it, though, especially when it helps convince an adult to give her things.]

What kind of flavors?

That's a very nice gesture of you to make. If they haven't all been spoken for, would you mind if I got a box of thin mints?

[ ...A pause. He has to glance over to the huge pile of cookie boxes to actually know for sure. ]

Uhhh... There's Thin Mints and Samoas... Tagalongs, Do-si-does... [ He turns back to the screen. ] That doesn't really do much to tell you about the flavours though, does it? The names don't seem to have anything to do with the flavour of cookie, except maybe Thin Mints. And Dulce de Leche and Thank U Berry Munch.

[ ...These names are ridiculous. ]

I can open up the boxes I'm going to keep and let you do some sampling out of those, though, if you want? Then you can pick the ones you like.

Uhmm...

[ Hang on, he has to glance over at the stack of cookies for a minute. ]

Looks like it, yeah. I'm guessing you'd like a box?

[ It's hard to ignore the excitedness, even over a video call. It's kind of funny, seeing a grown man look so excited about cookies. ]

Surprisingly, you're the first to request the Thin Mints. I figured they'd be gone in a second. [ He smiles a little, amused. ] They're yours. Feel free to come by anytime to get them.

[ There's a pause one his end as he reaches over and sets a box of Thin Mints aside, just so he knows how many he has left to hand out. Then, his attention is back on her. ]

Oh, nice to meet you. --Just call me Wash. But yeah, I don't know. Even small things can make a difference, you know? And I know I'm feeling pretty awful this month, so I figured others probably are too, so why not try to give them at least a moment of enjoyment?

Well, uh. Nothing, really? It's-- Here, let me try to explain.

[ There's the sound of shuffling as he gets more comfortable where he sits, and a breath of air through his nose as he considers the best way to explain Girl Scouts again. ]

They don't have anything to do specifically with being a girl or scouting skills. They're just called Girl Scout cookies because that's the name of the group that goes door to door selling them.

I would have too, but I won't complain. [Especially since if they don't get spoken for, Pepper would happily offer a home to more than one box.] Where should I go to pick them up?

[Although she isn't strictly asking for the cookies; his attitude towards all this has Pepper curious for another reason.]

Wash it is. And I do know, yes. [It's a philosophy she's had to embrace, particularly aboard the Moira.] If you don't mind me asking, what job have you been assigned on the ship?

Definitely. And we could all use a little fun around here, I think.

Oh! Yeah, guess I should probably give you a place to go, huh? You can come to room 008 on Mero Deck. Or I could even bring them to you, if you preferred.

[ He'd make a great cookie delivery service. And it'd give him something to do, which is something he's been finding himself looking for more and more lately. Distractions. ]

I don't mind. [ Although he does look a little surprised by the question--it's kind of out of the blue. ] I'm a sanitation tech. ...But if I'm being honest, I'm looking for an opportunity to get a job somewhere else. Nearly four months in sanitation hasn't exactly been a blast.

The deck is a beefcake deck, by the way. I don't think that'll cause a problem for anyone but just for full disclosure.

...Beefcake deck? You lost me. What is that?

[He nods, again trying to curb his enthusiasm.] Yes please. Long as you've still got some.

[Liquid sort of has a sweet tooth. Or a junk food in general tooth. Plus, his childhood tended to involve eating stuff he hunted or stole, and cookies weren't part of the deal. Now that he's grown... he enjoys sweets more than ever.

So he's excited, yeah.]

Seems they've sent you quite a bit.

You know, with pictures of half-naked muscular men on them. Or...mostly naked. An eye candy deck.

Oh, you're already doing me a favor by providing them. I'll be more than happy to pick them up.

[Although if he explained about looking for distractions, Pepper would certainly understand. It would also make her all the more certain about the idea she's going to put forth.

Because for her, that leap hadn't been so random. He's got a good attitude, the desire to do better and help others feel better, and he's discontent with his current job (which Pepper cannot at all blame him for. It's a potentially ideal situation.]

You don't happen to have any experience with raising morale, do you? As it happens, I'm the Chief Morale Officer on board.

So a group calls themselves girl scouts but the ain't girls or scouts? [She scoffs. The silly name would sound rather like something from the Zones if it weren't for the lack of skill.] Is it supposed to be funny or somethin'? Cause it sounds like a lot of lyin' to me.

...Oh. I get it now.

[ And is maybe blushing furiously just thinking about it. He might be rendered too flustered to play, which would be. Well. Horribly embarrassing.

But obviously he can't let her know there's any problem with it!! ]

Shouldn't cause any problems. I mean, it might bother any straight guys a little. ...Or gay women. ...Or anyone with a problem with nudity.

But I think it'll work out.
