Don't get me wrong, I'm not above killing people, but killing is easy and it's not always the best solution to dealing with matters you don't like.
They are the south, and no, I wouldn't push the full force of Tevinter's worst traits in a place where I am vastly outnumbered, especially when I'm trying to convince an entire nation that not everyone in Tevinter feels the same way or acts the same way. When you're trying to do that charm, wit, and eloquence become far more important than how many people you can magic to death.
Especially in a place where magic is feared and demonized.
