[ Scott's been here a few days, but he hasn't posted on the network or done much other than rest, recover, and plan. He is eight different kinds of not okay with the fact that he was just brought here out of the blue. He's worried about the others back home, worried about how his parents are going to take a second child just... gone. They weren't exactly the best, but they deserved better than a pair of empty caskets and a ton of questions. And then there was where he actually was and all of what that meant.

He'd spent a few days trying to figure out if they were messing with him, but from everything he'd been able to see or find, it looked like the people who'd brought him here weren't trying to trap him so much as just couldn't send him home. He'd stewed a little in that, frustrated with himself and his lack of scientific knowledge to ever refute such an idea, but that didn't really help anything and he'd turned towards something to do here soon enough. Honestly, it's amazing that took as long as it did, given Scott's general impatience. That's why, with his couple of credits and his ridiculous job recommendation (hey, if he could rock it, he'd rock it for money. Pride's never paid his bills...) he's finally dipping his toe into treating this place like his 'real world' for the moment instead of just a screwed up nightmare scenario.

He's looking pretty good for a kid from 1983 with medically required wrap around sunglasses as he grins into the camera and offers a laconic sort of thumbs up. Teenage boys are a menace and should be stopped. ]

Hey, so... if I say 'mutant', what does that make you all think of?

[ The mun would like to note that due to the fact that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came out in May of 1984, she was unable to make a totally tubular reference and she would like if you would all be sad for her at this deep temporal injustice.

Scott, on the other hand, is testing the waters in a sort of obvious but not really entirely obvious but pretty obvious kind of way. Though to be fair, he's doing it in front of the most non-descript bit of wall in the Ingress compound he could find and fully intends to take off the eye-catching bright neon yellow jacket and stuff it in his backpack as soon as he's done. Nothing to be done about the telling sunglasses, but he's trying. Who knows what could come back from this? ]

[ He has dealt, it seems, with an astonishing amount of loss as of late, and it's only by accident that he chances upon the network. He doesn't make a frequent habit of scrolling through, only skimming on occasion to keep up with the general mood of the place. This, however, is just enough to grab his attention, and as it does, that yawning abyss of loss doesn't seem quite so vast. ]

[ So Logan here didn't bother to close out of social media shit like anyone'll catch him posing painful philosophical questions to random weirdos the world over, he thinks when, hello, that's a familiar face.

For a brief second he feels. Nothing. Then it creeps on in, heavy, black tendrils of inexplicable guilt, bearing aloft a sharp spike of shock. ]

[ Scott could, when properly in his element, pull off a good line or two. However, when genuinely, completely and utterly bowled over his ass surprised to this level, it would be more honest to admit that the initial mental line of dialogue this response prompts is closer to 'what the fucking fuck fucking hell the fuck is this?' and he's more than a little glad that the professor is probably not in range to actually hear that.

All right, he's not really hoping, because it would be convenient, but the idea does make him mentally wince a little.

[ The camera was turned on, briefly panned across the doctor's face and was then chucked to point up at a ceiling in what looked like a hospital. ]

[ Like some cosmic, inexorable force, something about the guy's face makes his inner teenage asshole sit up at attention. Something... familiar? Nah, that can't be right...

[ He's just not going to offer anything for 'what he might be used to'. The guy might look like the professor, but something about his tone, the way he acts, isn't the professor. And there's something in the back of his brain that makes that itch in a certain way. ]

[ One that only comes up more often now than it had at first. It's like existing while perpetually waiting for the sword hanging over his head to drop. Here lies Damocles. In any case, he chuckles at that reaction and can only really offer a shrug. ]

I believe the real reason is a bit above even my paygrade.

[ he hasn't exactly been subtle or secretive about his whole "clone of a clone" sitch, but saying it outright is still a trial. he'll get there eventually. self-acceptance and all that. ]

[ His teeth clench just the once at the answer, because some part of him had thought in that instant when he'd seen the Professor "Now. Now maybe there's a chance". But he realizes an instant after that, after that answer, that he was being unfair. They all had to deal with the hand they were dealt here. He was still glad to see the Professor, even if it worried him a little on the other side of the coin. ]

[ They're on a video chat, and he's not sure how secure anything can be with this weird TAB thing. Not to mention that he's in a public area. But- ]

[ Even though he's still on his first month's stipend. It's a good line, though. ]

At the question, though Scott couldn't see it Adrien paused on the chart he was working on and stared off across the hospital hallway for a moment. Then he shook his head. ]

Yeah, this was a mistake. [ He said, reaching for the device and flipping it up into his hand. ] I shouldn't have wasted your time. [ Not exactly an apology but kinda an unspoken apology. ]

I'm sure Kurt will find you soon enough.

[ With that, he disconnected the communication. ]

Yes, yes, I'm fine.

[ The fact that he asks is touching. He's not entirely sure why it should be. Or why it feels like a surprise. (Somehow, concern always does). He waves it off. That isn't the salient point here. The point is in that first question, the one he does have a tangible, easy answer for. ]

And I know this may be difficult to believe-- [ it had been for him too ] --but the school is still here.

[ Or, fine, newly here, but that's really a useless, semantic detail, isn't it? ]

I freeload wherever I can get away with it, so I don't really get that.

[ what's a king to a god, etc., what's hard work to a grand thief. this is off to a great start. ]

[ Those eyebrows say yeah, YEAH it's a little difficult to believe but the rest of his face stays relatively sedate. Honestly, in some ways, he loves these sunglasses. Even aside from the fact that he no longer blows things up when he looks at them. ]

And where's 'here', if you don't mind me asking?

[ He minds asking, a little, but if the school was there, a whole massive building and he assumes the campus as well? Yeah, that's a little hard to hide so if it's hidden this shouldn't give their measures too much trouble and if it isn't, well, he can stop being Secret Agent Man. ]

[ Thaaat's getting a faint snort. Okay, fair enough- ]

Not yet. And it sounds like the job they have lined up for me isn't really much 'work' either.

[ Scott just kind of looks at the TAB window for a moment, registering 'Kurt' very very clearly inside his head while outside, he just gives a snort and soft 'yeah, okay, screw you too, man' before tucking it away.

He's not forgetting that discussion, though. ]

I signed up for the security guys for the Ingress Complex. It's a lot of standing around and doing nothing, most days.

I'd say it's easy money but it's still a bit of work. What did they put you down for? Is it fun? Do you get to shoot anything?

[ Jean stares at the video for a long time, honestly not sure if she can believe it. First, Peter. Then Erik and Raven. All gone. And then, after nearly two years, she sees and hears someone she almost thought she would never see again.

She isn't even sure how to respond. It takes her several minutes of staring and debating to finally press the video option and even then, it's just her looking at him. ]
