Now that we're getting all cozy and settled in here, it has occurred to me that I'm without some of my kit from back home, and I'm starting to feel a little naked without it.

I'm thinking of doing a little DIY to rectify that, so if anyone would be a dear and is willing to part with:

- windshield wipers
- hose clamps
- old brassieres (underwire only)
- a propane torch
- pliers
- a grinder

I'd be grateful and maybe even inclined to owe you a favour.

[ A glance over at his feet as they come up. Not going to roll her eyes, so not going to roll her eyes.

The first wire gets loosened. It comes halfway out before she sets the razor down to take a sip of her drink and gives his foot an elbow nudge. ]

[He sighs dramatically and slides his feet to the floor.]

[ A smirk tugs at the corner of her lips and the butchering of her bra continues. ]

[He grins the exact sort of smartass crooked grin that got him stern lectures in his school days.]

And let's just say I'm "twenty-five."

[He even makes the air quote gesture with his fingers.]

[ Another look.

The wire comes free as she tugs it out, sliding it across to him. She's laughing then at the air quotes, a cackle really, and takes another sip, longer this time.

Of course she remembers that conversation. ]

I was going to guess thirty-six.

You're not far off.

[He elaborates no further than that and instead digs some tools out of his pockets and gets to work on the wire Elena has given him.]

Now if you pay attention, you're going to learn how to make a Bogota rake.

If you wanted a comb or needed one that bad, you could've just asked.

[ She's paused on the second cup, the metal peeking out, eying the tools he's gotten in his hands. ]

Haha, very cute.

[He glances up from his work briefly to look her in the eye.]

It's a lockpick.

[He gets back to work with a pair of wire cutters, measuring out a length of underwire and snapping it free. Beside him he's got various pliers and files.]

You're seriously making lockpicks out of my bras? Seriously?

[ Both her tone and the look she gives him back are deadpan. Somehow, Elena should not be surprised. ]

[He says it without any shame and perhaps a hint of glee.]

They're a useful thing to have in general, you never know when you might need 'em.

Funny, most guys I know hate them.

[ But Elena knows what he's referring to. Lockpicks. They come in real handy. Thing is...she's never needed one. ]

There aren't any shady vendors around that can get scrap metal from?

No no no, scrap vendors deal on a bigger scale than this. You know, old cars and industrial leftovers and whatnot. It's not impossible that they'll receive a large shipment of short thin pieces of steel, but it's not likely.

Much easier to seek out common household objects, like the humble brassiere.

[He twirls he bit of metal he's holding for emphasis and then uses it to measure out a matching length of wire, and shears it off.]

You sure must be a hit with the ladies...

[ Mumbled as she shakes her head, cutting into the fabric to tug out another wire. It's passed across. On to the second bra. ]

You know, didn't think I'd ever be sitting in a hole in the wall with you of all people, drinking, having a hand in your petty thievery.

[Well if she's going to impugn his reputation like that, he might as well go tit-for-tat on oversharing. haha. tit]

Two words, love: deft fingers.

[Speaking of that, he takes a clamp and starts bending the pieces into shape, working with the speed and certainty of a well-practiced hand.]

I imagine me having died would make that rather unimaginable, yeah.

It could be something other than a demon. A siren, or a dullahan, or something else otherworldly. For all we know, you could summon a possessed book or a shoe.

[Now he's just being sarcastic, though he has run into a few of those things back in the Drabwurld.]

I've found that I can't really assume much when it comes to space and the future, as it far proceeds my own time anyway.
