☄ Audio
[This is very pointedly audio only. Miller's not going to show his face for any of this. And his speech? Carefully measured.]
Ishmael died. Big quiet bearded guy. Looked a little like a few other people that have been on the ship. He had a heart attack. Resuscitation attempts were made. Didn't work...
I'll be around the ship tending to some of his affairs until revival is successful. [Because it will be, dammit. He can't make peace with that asshole just to have him die on him already. He's waited before. He can wait again.] I could use a couple of people helping me clear things up. [And there's the rustle of muffling fabric, the grunt of the man clearing their throat against his sleeve to stifle the noise.]
If anyone wants to use the Training Simulation Room I would appreciate if one of the other specialists handled it while I took care of this.
Thanks ahead of time.

video;
[He knew that death was impermanent here, and he did not know this Ishmael (beyond the fact that it was terribly close to Imshael), but Dorian had lost someone he cared about so he understood that much.]
If there's anything you need-

[It shouldn't take more than a few days, right? Or a week?]
Thanks, though. I'll let you know if he's gone so long he starts haunting me.
[There are phantom jokes that could happen here, but they don't feel very funny right now. Nothing really does. And here he was starting to be happy his humor had returned.]

[This is how he shows his concern, any more than this and he' offer up his man bosom.]
Hope you'll think of me before then, I'll need time to prepare.
[The humor might have been there, but Dorian's voice is, remarkably gentle.]

And don't worry. Honestly, probably has bigger fish to fry. Or bother from the afterlife as it were.
[He's still going to be hard on himself. He should have known better. And it still went wrong.]

[Dorian hums softly in the back of his throat, it's a noncommittal sound, contemplating just how hard Kazuhira was going to be on himself.
Dorian would treat this differently from the way he handled Alexius. Especially now that he was older and knew better.]
I'm certain he'll do a fine job, with the fish frying if nothing else. Everything I touch ends up getting burnt.

[And he sort of resents himself for keeping up his efforts. But, here he is, and like the locomotives he loves to hear so much he just rolls forward.]
Actually he's a terrible cook but he also lacks tastebuds. So it evens out.

[Another thoughtful, throaty noise and he continues on with his enabling of Miller. At least while he has his attention and the sound of his voice.]
May I ask you something?...it's probably ridiculous considering, but if I'm to miss you for some time I would like your opinion. If you do not mind.

[At least he's a decent cook. Even if his heart and enthusiasm aren't in it at the moment.]
Ah... yeah. Sure. Opinion on what?

[And he's not expecting anything from him at the moment, he was surprised that Miller was even speaking at all...though he could only imagine that the alternative was hardly much better.]
Well I am a mage, as you well know, so physical combat isn't my area of expertise. There are battle mages who prefer to get up close and look into the eyes of their opponent, not I. Unfortunately there have been glitches in my magic that may necessitate learning how to physically defend myself better. [Not that he is wholly incapable, he can wield his staff like a bow] I suppose my question is, what does one wear when engaging in such exercises, that is, if I'm to be training with someone in physical combat?
[Yes, he is asking this question. It's a serious question!]

Depends on your preference for combat. [At least it's a suitably distracting question.] I can show you some of the uniform types I'm familiar with. And give you some training scenarios to try them out.
Usually I encourage stealth over combat whenever possible.

[As an aside.] That would almost sound appealing if I weren't absolutely certain it would hurt, despite his promises of treating me like a virgin maiden.
[Dorian's utter lack of respect for combat, really. It's appalling.]
