Ah, there we go. Um, hi! I haven't said much here before, but I think I should probably change that...so hello. I'm Akito, Akito Wanijima. [You're supposed to tell some stuff about yourself when you introduce yourself like this aren't you? But he doesn't want to really, not when he actually has a reason to post]

I kind of wanted to ask everyone something. Two things, actually.

[Deep breath. This topic has been bothering him since the news had arrived] The Ingress that can send people home...I was just wondering. There's a lot of people that really want to go home, right? And some people that don't, because they can't. [Mostly being that they're dead, from what he's seen on the network] I was wondering if anyone else sort of thought the same thing that I did...that it's not really worth it? No point when it's only temporary. Wouldn't it just make it hurt more that we weren't home?

It is kind of neat seeing other peoples worlds, I admit. But my world isn't anything special, and it's...kind of hard, the idea of going back there and being free for a little while, only to be pulled back here. [Back into a cage] It might just be me though. So I wanted to know if anyone else thought the same, or if I'm just being silly. [He smiles, as if he doesn't mind that idea. He can be quite silly sometimes, after all]

The other thing I wanted to ask was if anyone else knew about the idea of two people living in one body. A lot of people I've talked to hadn't seemed to, so. Yeah.

[He feels sort of embarrassed now]

Um, two people in one body? Why do you ask?

Because it's what I am. Me and my other half Agito share this body.

[Well, that would... explain it. He said it so casually. Meanwhile, Fiora hasn't told anyone about Lady Meyneth yet.]

So... you're just wondering if there are people who have heard of it...? Um, I have.

Pretty much, yeah. Heard of it, or experienced it, but it seems to be uncommon that I'm not expecting too much.

That's good to know though. I was beginning to worry that it was something that was something unique to us, and might've been bad or something. [A little sheepish. He doesn't think it's bad, but it's weird that so few have heard of such a thing]

Have the two of you always been sharing the same body? Most people might not have ever noticed unless you told them. Well, unless you're really different from each other, I guess.

No, originally it was just me. Agito was born later, when I was ten. We've been together for four years.

[He giggles a little] Agito's very different to me. He's kind of grouchy, and swears a lot. He doesn't like people as much. But he's a good person, underneath it all.

Ah. Perhaps they would have noticed after all. You don't seem the grouchy type.

[she's kind of curious about this "born later" business, but... if she asks so many questions, he might want to know why. and she wouldn't be interested in getting into that.]

Does he just, um... come out sometimes?

Nope. I don't get angry that easily. I like being able to help people and that works better when you don't get upset with them.

[Akito Logic]

He and I can change who's in control whenever we want to. I wear an eyepatch that can slide along its strings. Right now I'm in control because the left eye is showing. If I moved it over so the right eye was showing, he'd be in control.

I'd be careful to let everyone know that. You wouldn't want to make anyone confused, offended...

Well. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that, if the two of you have been together so long.

Yeah, I try to make sure to tell people when it comes up. It's only ever really a problem when Agito doesn't explain, since he doesn't care to most of the time. [Sheepish. His other half is uncooperative sometimes]

I think I get how you feel.

[ Then again, he's one who doesn't really want to go home, and it's not because he's dead. ]

It probably will hurt people more to go home and be forced back after a few hours. But I think for a lot of us, curiosity gets the better of us, or even more likely, wanting to see our friends or family again.

[ Wash gives a small shrug. In the end, it's up to everyone to decide for themselves if it's worth it, but he understands this side of things, too. ]

And, uh, about your second thing? I've had experience with something sort of like that back home. It's not exactly two people, but... --I mean, it kind of is, but kind of isn't. [ He hesitates for a moment, wondering if he should just backpedal. ] ...I'm in this military program that's experimented with implanting AIs in the heads of its soldiers. They can't control your body, or anything, but it's still two minds in one head.

...Yeah. Uh. Why do you ask, though?

Yeah, I can understand that. I think, if it had been any other time, I'd probably have tried it out too. [But not now. Not after that]

I see. That's...well, interesting in a way, but also that seems sort of weird? There's nothing like that on my world, I mean. That I know of anyway. [How does he word this without it being offensive]

Oh, I asked because it's what I am. [He taps the eyepatch he wears as he speaks] I share this body with my other half, Agito.

[ Wash nods, understanding that pretty well. ]

Me too. I'm still considering it, myself, but I think if it was any time but now I wouldn't have to think about it.

[ He's not offended by the response in the least. It's kind of weird even in his old world. Not exactly a common practice. ]

There probably isn't. I won't argue the weirdness of it though, because it's definitely weird.

[ And he has personal experience with it, so.

There's a pause at the answer to his question. It's...not what he's expecting to hear. He doesn't know what he's expecting, but it's not that. ]

...You do? Is that a natural thing? Or normal in your world?

[Oh good, he was worried for a moment. He hates accidentally offending people. He doesn't have much more to say on it, so he focuses on the question instead]

Yep! And I'm honestly not sure. We don't know anyone else like us back home, and most people don't tend to realise we're not the same person unless we explain or they're smart enough to realise how different our personalities are. So it's hard to say if it's normal or natural... [Though given the circumstances that brought it about? Probably not natural. But he doesn't want to say that]

Oh.

[ Wash blinks, just...taking the fact in. He's met all kinds of different people from all sorts of races, some who have powers even, and yet...this might be the one he finds the weirdest? Sure, AI implantation is weird, but actually...two people in one body? He doesn't think science could explain that and it's just... Yeah. Strange.

Shaking his head to clear it, to get rid of as much shock as he can, he then peers at the boy through the screen again. ]

Sorry, I just. I've never heard of anything quite like that. Kind of surprised me. It must be kind of strange to share a body with someone like that, though. I just mean... Do you ever kind of wish you had a body to yourself?

[ Having not exactly have his AI implanted for long at all, he doesn't have much insight into what it's really like to share that way. So, yeah, maybe he's curious... ]

...Sorry. If that's too personal for me to ask, then don't worry about it.

[He can't help giggling a little] It's okay~ I don't mind.

[Akito hums for a moment as he thinks] When it first started, I kind of did. Agito kind of scared me, he's very gruff and be scary when you make him mad. And he really likes fighting a lot. So for awhile it was unnerving and I kind of wondered if it was okay.

But now I prefer it. I dunno what I'd do if I lost Agito now. He means a lot to me. Sometimes it's weird? But mostly it's just kinda...how we are.

[ That's a relief. When Akito takes no offence to being asked what feel like such personal questions, Wash relaxes slightly. He doesn't know the etiquette for interacting with someone who's technically two someones, so it's comforting to know that he hasn't just been completely rude. ]

I guess that kind of makes sense. If it's been that way for a long time, it'd make sense that you got used to it.

[ Even if it sounds like it would be too strange to adjust to. But people can adapt to all kinds of situations with the right amount of time, right? ]

I think I get it. --To the extent that someone without experience can, at least. I can only imagine how unnerving it must have been when it first started. That must have been a lot to deal with.

[He nods, understanding what the other means] It was kind of a lot. Aside from that, there was a lot going on around us at the same time, so it was kind of overwhelming, put together. Even though I like it now, I wouldn't recommend going through that kind of thing. [Bad enough to be dealing with mental issues on top of everything else]

But it's much better now. Both it and the situation we're in, even if the situation is sort of unusual now. [He laughs at himself, amused. Understatement, Akito]

Yeah. I...kind of know what you mean.

[ It's kind of similar to what he went through when he'd gotten Epsilon, his AI. In terms of it being overwhelming and a lot to deal with. His situation hasn't exactly ended up being anything he likes, but that's a Complicated Issue. ]

Probably for the best that you ended up liking it, in the end. Especially if there isn't anything you can do to change it. [ Not that he knows whether there is or not. ] ...The situation, as in being on the Moira? I don't think I've talked with anyone else who feels like being here is better than being home.

[He chooses not to comment on that. According to his other, Agito will fade eventually. But Akito doesn't want him to. So better for people to think there's no way to change it, considering]

Ah, in a way it sort of is? Before... [He lifts a hand to scratch at his cheek] Most of my life I've spent with my older brother. I didn't mind it but it...to most people, it probably wasn't good. [Akito's uneasy, trying not to go into detail while explaining] A little under a month ago, we got away from him and made some new friends, and found a new place to live.

So, while I'd like to be home with my friends, compared to most of my life, it's better. That's why I don't mind it here, even with everything going on.

[ Wash nods as Akito explains himself, understanding. On some level, anyway. He definitely knows that feeling of wanting to be home and with friends, but being here probably being better for him in the long run. ]

Right. Me too. --I mean, on a couple of those points, at least.

[ Nervous laugh, glancing away from the screen. ]

Not that this place is a lot better, considering everything that happens, but... It does still manage to be better.

[He meant to turn on voice, and it's probably pretty obvious from the amazing view of part of his quarters while he's trying to mess with something on what looks like one of the dressers.]

The times I've seen my home, it's either been well after when I came from or too far before.

[The less said about his and Seth's encounter with Golbez the better.] It was worth it to know that things will work out.

[Something is beeping on the other side of hte MID's camera and there was a slightly confused rumble.]

Was that who you were talking to on the airship?

[He resists the urge to giggle as he watches]

I see. I guess it's different for everyone.

Yeah, my other, Agito. We've shared this body for a few years now.

Two people living in one body? [ that.

sounds a lot like something Really Bad From Home. ]

Is that something that happens where you're from?

[He shrugs] I don't think it's common? I've never heard of anyone else with it, just us.

How did it happen?

[He pauses a little, trying to work out how to word it, since he hates talking about it]

Something bad happened to me, a few years ago. Really bad. I needed someone to help me, but there wasn't anyone around who could. I sort of withdrew into my mind...that was when I first heard him. I think he was born in that moment, to protect me.

...that's common with trauma. That's not two people living in one body.

[ Fushimi has 0 tact. ]

Maybe on other worlds. Agito's just as much a person as I am. He has his own thoughts and feelings and opinions.

[ Fushimi suddenly doesn't think this is a hill he wants to die on. ]

Your world is extraordinarily special, then.

[Don't worry, he isn't the one you need to worry about. Plus as soon as Fushimi says that, he brightens, accepting the words. Akito is a forgiving child]

I don't know about that, but with this kind of thing maybe it is. Otherwise it's just normal Earth, I think. [Earth with rollerblades that let you defy gravity. Normal indeed]

Just a normal Earth... sure. [ He doesn't think a single person he's met has actually been from a 'normal' Earth. He's not even sure his is normal. ]

Good luck here, then. Nothing is normal.

As normal as can be, anyway. There's no magic or anything like that. [Shrug]

[ oh, so that means Fushimi is probably the one from an abnormal Earth, then... okay. good to know. ]

Don't trust anyone off-ship and be careful who you trust on it.

[ Shrug. ]

Yeah..I don't like not trusting people, but with what's being going on lately...

[Too much people being hurt. Too much death. He doesn't like it at all]

You're the trusting sort, huh... [ Fushimi tongue clicks. He'll never understanding trusting people. They're all so weird and likely to backstab you.

Maybe that's just him. ]

You came in at a pretty bad time.

[Helpless shrug] It's my nature. I want to believe everyone has some good in them. [He's fully aware of the fact it's not the case, but it doesn't stop him trying]

Yeah...I kind of noticed. Scary. [Akito doesn't seem upset, as such, merely...disappointed? Definitely sad though]

[ Fushimi is the last person to ever believe that everyone has some good in him. He's pretty sure he was raised by an incarnation of evil, at this point.

"Raised" might be a stretch. ]

That's naive.

Dissociative identity disorder, or multiple personality disorder, is a mental disorder in which there's at least two distinct and defined identities with their own personality traits, behavioral patterns, and even memories. A lot of people here come from worlds where this is a known condition that affects a number of people. They can shift from one to the other in moments of stress, or even as a response to all sorts of triggers or stimuli.

But I also know of a more literal case of two creatures living in one body, complete with metamorphosis and cell mutation. Not sure you'd call them both 'people', though. [ And because he doesn't want to retell the whole thing: ] If you've gotten here with the last group of arrivals, I assume you were given an information file. Did you read it?

[It takes him a little bit to reply to that. Mostly because of that one word. 'Disorder'. Akito...doesn't like that word. At all. It's not a disorder, it's just...how they are. It's not something to be fixed. He doesn't want it to be fixed, he can't lose his other half. Agito has just as much right to exist as he does. It's not a disorder or an illness, or anything like that...

He's glad of the text because he's not sure he'd be able to stop his voice shaking if he talked right now]

I understand. That makes sense. It sounds a little different to how we are, so it's probably not the same. [It's not the same, he won't allow it to be classed the same, they're both people--] But that's interesting to know.

We read it, yeah. [Though Akito's have problems remembering it right now. His mind is sort of in a state of partial shut-down]

[ Bruce's initial approach is from a more factual point of view, or scientific rather. He knows it's not so simple, though, especially here— there are too many different people from too many different worlds for him to genuinely believe that two or more people living in the same body can only be classified as someone having multiple personalities. ]

It might not be. Each situation is different, and here each world is different. I can't speak for everyone, or for your own situation, for instance. I'm just saying how things like that are in my world.

Then you read the file about me, and about the Hulk. I'm Bruce Banner. What I have is not at all like multiple personality disorder, in fact it's not even a condition I was born with, but the fact is there are two distinct identities within the same physical body. Although the mass of said body changes when he manifests.

[Deep breaths Akito. Between him doing his best to keep calm and Agito's words in his mind, he manages to keep it together]

I understand. It was a little bit of a shock, but it's definitely interesting to know that it's not just us. That it's actually a thing that can happen to others.

[Oh, this is...huh] It's nice to meet you, Bruce-san. [Forever polite first] That must be hard. Changing like that, I mean. I can't imagine that being pleasant.

It can happen to others, yes. I'm sure it can in other worlds too, and in different ways. Maybe some ways more similar to yours.

[ Right. Bruce isn't sure he believes the word 'nice', but he says nothing to that. ]

It isn't pleasant, no. Not even when I'm in control. But I've learned to live with it. [ Seen as he has no other choice. ]

Maybe it's a thing we can learn about, while we're here.

[He just has to be careful about accidentally confusing himself again, like he did before]

I understand. As much as I can, anyway.

It's a possibility. There's a lot of things that we have a chance to learn about here but not back in our worlds.

It's a little difficult to explain, sorry. But if you ever want to ask any questions about it, feel free to. I'm sure it's not the same as you, it might not even be similar, but still.
