I've written up some training routines specifically geared towards stealth and retrieval. I would like to grab some volunteers. There are higher levels of difficulty.

The training room is also open for other trainers to provide firearms and combat training, and also basic self-defense is available of course. Let me know what you'd be interested in.

On a more personal note, for those people that know me, or are acquainted with me, and have very good intentions? Try not to fix me up for a little while. I know it seems like a fun hobby, but I'm not really feelin' it.

What makes you think the intentions are good?

[He's just being a pain in the ass. There's nothing else to it.]

[Okay, he's going to turn on the video. There's no swelling? But someone has a black eye behind his glasses and a busted lip.]

And you're not the only one. [Under the mistaken impression that Miller was capable of making someone happy. At least he's firmly figured out he can't do that.] I'm going to get you back for this.

[At least he doesn't sound like he's legitimately pissed. It's about the nicest version of angry at Ocelot he can manage.]

[Well, he didn't expect the fat lip.]

It was a harmless joke. A long time ago, you once had a sense of humor.

[But those were better days.]

I take it you and the Boss had a little 'talk'.

Yeah. I guess I did.

[He goes from irritated to a little sad.]

Yeah. Told him to tell "Ahab" who he was before some stranger called out the resemblance. Wanted it to come from him.

Also told him the truth. Guess he never even noticed. [He huffs a little laugh at that.] Nine years... I guess it was longer for you. Considering Zero made a point of mentioning you'd known him longer than me to make me jealous.

I think Ahab is ready to know the truth. Just wish we didn't have to tell it to him here.

[It's a strange thing, having to do this a second time. But then Miller says that other part and Ocelot tilts his chin up.]

Longer for me? You tryin' to suggest something?

You said so yourself. To us, in front of Quiet.

["His life isn't yours to take." God. What a fucking idiot he was.]

I couldn't stand the bitch. But I wish she was here for him. She could support him better through this than either of us.

What I said about myself and Quiet is different than what you said to the Boss.

[Miller should think back on that time during Quiet's interrogation again. She's in love with the legend.]

Am I wrong, though?

[He reaches up and pinches between his eyes with a wince, his glasses bumped up slightly. The hand though, is his right. And it's partially see through. He still needs to get a glove or something. He lets it drop.]

I'm going to get these bruises fixed up. [And he huffs. Okay. He should... make an effort... to not bury himself in work.] You still on for that movie?

[The hand is noticed, of course. Guess Miller finally gave in and got himself a new limb. Good for him.]

It's not an easy question for me to answer. I'm not sure how to answer it.

[What he feels is difficult to put into words. Even for him. It's not something that can be said in three words, and he doesn't think it's the same thing Kaz feels. Maybe those types of feelings are just too foreign for the cat to even know what to make of them.]

And yeah, that movie still sounds good to me.

There was something there. I could tell there. But yeah. For me I guess it is different. [Probably a verb tense he shouldn't have used. But even when talking to David, finding out what was to happen, he'd grieved. Even filled with contempt and hate, he'd grieved for that man he'd come to know in the jungle.] For me it was this gruff guy. One time, we had to do a mission together. We were in one of his damn boxes, and he smelled. He hadn't showered. I got so frustrated I gave away our position. I couldn't take being in that confined space. Him and his boxes. His cigars. This guy I would drink mate and beer with.

I don't think he knew what leaving me behind would do to me. Everyone's left me eventually, or flat out forgotten me. But I- [He wanted to feel him, be held like he was needed. That's what he'd wanted. At least once. But they all ended up in hell before he had the chance.] I apologized for what happened with Zero. There's that.

[He had been in love with the man that fought for him so long, and then for him to stop doing it- he knew he'd fucked up in the past. Now he realizes he fucked up so badly he not only lost chances to be with someone, he fucked up so badly he can't stop this man from breaking the world. His words stopped meaning anything.]

Well, I guess I still got you, then. Funny how things turn out.

[Someone just put him out of his misery. Revolver Ocelot being the person he has to go to talk about this shit.]

[Ocelot doesn't interrupt with any smart-ass remarks. He just listens to Miller talk and work through it all. The recalled memory does make Ocelot smile a bit. He knows the two of them had some good times together. Some adventures that will never be forgotten.

He doesn't criticize Miller or call him foolish, even if Ocelot is thinking it. Miller fell in love with someone that is bigger than any regular man. Snake is a legend and a man with a higher purpose. Can a legend belong to one man? No. Legends belong to the world. Ocelot doesn't think that would bring Miller comfort, though.]

We've got each other for the time being. For as long as we're stuck with one another. Right now, I don't mind so much.

[It's okay. Miller already thinks he's foolish. And not much can comfort him right now, as it turns out.]

You figured out how the story plays out yet?

It's like The Magnificent Seven but with Samurai.

[They're talking about the movie, right?]

[No.

...

Okay, yeah, sure. Whatever. He'll go with that.]

I'll... make us some cookies or something. Give me about a half hour.

[After talking about his heartbreak and regrets he could damn well use a movie and some cookies.]

Cookies? You'll make a hell of a wife.

[That's actually a compliment. Because nobody makes Ocelot cookies, so this is pretty great.]

I'm pretty sure you just think that because I helped you do laundry. Just don't forget the beer.

[As annoying as the compliment is, it's a little reassuring. If Ocelot can jab at him for being a good catch, then maybe someone else can genuinely think so.]

[He'll hang onto the idea.]
