For those that were in Avelle for the past week, has anyone here noticed the crash?

Or the significant lack of coverage or aftermath?

I have concerns. Perhaps it's a lack of acquaintance with the local culture, but it seems unusual to remain silent when something wrecks into one of the city's main resources. That we are also strangers here reminds me that makes us very prone. We may be in their records now, but it is as simple biological resources.

We're going to have an important figure on board. It might be sufficient to secure our safety. But I am curious about that crash.

[He clears his throat. Moving on.]

Do you have the equivalent of an R&D team? A group that I can propose a project to if I give them the specifics? It would take a bit of work but in the long run I think it would be beneficial.

I've tried talking to some of the locals after the fact, but no one's saying anything. Or... No one knows anything. You suggested it might be something that happens often here, but... this doesn't feel like it.

No. It doesn't. And I don't much like the idea of being in permanent dock. Contrary to what they might be pushing, I'm still not much of the settling kind.

[ Lara is doing her best to look like a perfectly normal young woman, going for a casual stroll by the river. It works rather well, except for the part where the careful observe would notice the red handle of a climbing axe hooked to her belt and mostly obscured by her coat.

She picks her way carefully towards Miller, nodding a greeting. ]

[Miller has something of his own (besides his concealed tranquilizer gun). He comes closer to her and pulls out a small package connected to a belt, and that belt has a button on it.]

Do you know what a fulton is? [He holds it out to her as if he were giving her a present to any passerbys.]

[ She takes it from him carefully, looking it over. A smile turns up the corners of her mouth. ]

No, but I have the feeling I'm about to find out.

Normally they attach to balloons, the item is lifted into the air and a recovery team in a helicopter accepts the item.

This one creates a small wormhole, allowing the object to be transported up and be dropped into a set location. In this case, the Moira's cargo bay.

[He used to use the balloon sort frequently. This thing works similarly enough.] Using this, you can move the body to the Moira for autopsy. Because I think if we turn it over we'll definitely not learn anything else. [At that point, he just moves to walk beside of her. Just as if they're out for some pleasant stroll and he's happy to see a friend.]

The Diamond Dogs motherbase R&D team developed it. [He sounds proud of that. After all, he was deeply invested in the Diamond Dogs.]

A set came to me in my mailbox. I have 43- 42 after that one. But it's enough to see if they can be developed here.

[ The house they're approaching is well guarded, two sentries at the door and more patrolling around the perimeter. ]

[He grunts thoughtfully, mouth tensing up, before he glances sidelong at her.]

[And hoping that this would work, he purposefully slips with his crutch and goes down onto the hard concrete, wincing and grabbing the knee above his prosthetic. It does hurt, he did misjudge a little. But the fit he's throwing about it is mostly for show.] Ah! Shit!

Go get me some help. [He tells her loudly, urgently, but the request for help has gotten the attention of the perimeter patrolman. And he's coming over, with the other two at the house at least looking in Miller's direction.]

[He gives her a pointed look. It's a chance to get out of here while he can keep the guy distracted.]

[ It catches her off guard when he goes down. Startled, she reaches to help him, pausing when he tells her to go for help. She tries not to glance back at the sound of the men approaching them, just nods. ]

All right, I'll be right back!

[ And she scampers off, in what hopefully seems like a perfectly innocent direction and not one that will take her back around to the back of the house where she remembers there's a window. It'll be a bit of work to get it open, the metal old and rusted, hopefully Miller can keep them distracted in the meantime. ]

[There's something about most tough guys that gives them a psychological kick out of helping out some battered old war horse and looking like a hero. He thanks the guy that helps him up, using his aid to get somewhere where can sit down. Once he does, he asks the guy a question or two, enough to give him pause.]

[Because if she knows where the body is, retrieving it shouldn't take long. The fulton is quick. And once the man has gone and retrieved his crutch for him he guesses that's most of the time she needs.]

[Whenever she sees Miller again he's asking them where he can find a map and if there are many handicap accessible buildings in Harashan if visits there.]

[ It's a surprisingly quick trip and Lara is back out the window and looking only a little dusty when she rounds the corner again. ]

Thank goodness you're all right! [ She does her very best to act the part of Concerned Ward, even nodding and looking appropriately chagrined when the guard scolds her a little for running off. ] We had better get back, anyway. I'm expecting a package.

Already? [He feigns disappointment pretty realistically, and moves to walk with her as if he has to keep close. He continues a vague line of conversation about what they talked about and what went on until they're respectably out of earshot.]

[Then he clears his throat.]

[ She keeps her cool all the way till their out of earshot, then laughs, soft and a little manic. ]

Amazingly well. Certainly easier than finding the thing the first time.

I hope you warned someone about what we were doing. I'd feel badly if a corpse just fell on someone in the cargo bay.

At least extracting it will give us a chance that we didn't have before. Has all the wreckage been recovered?

As to that, I don't know. They've cleared away most of the wreckage that washed up immediately, but more might have gone downstream with the river. [ She tipped her head to look up at him. ] I don't suppose you've gotten diving equipment in the post recently as well.
