[Her posts display as being from Jane, MID technician.]
Moira crew,
In my new position as MID technician, I have added a couple of new apps and upgraded an existing app on your MIDs. They are as follows:
Map and Moira Positioning System (MPS)
This shows you a detailed layout of the ship, and you can use the MPS to give you a route to any navigational point on the ship you choose. You can also add notes to your map.
Medbay alerts
This feature will automatically send an alert to the medbay and navigation when your vital signs hit critical levels, with your name and position on the Moira, so that medbay technicians can find you and the captains are aware of your condition. If you are off the ship, the alert will give your distance from the ship and an approximate time it will take technicians to reach you. You will also receive a reply with an ETA for your recovery.
I thought with the life support still malfunctioning, it should be as easy as possible to find anyone in danger.
And speaking of being in danger, the upgrade is to the directory. In addition to the color coded basic life statuses, you can now enter short text updates of your condition for the rest of the crew to see, or, if you know the code used, program in automatic updates. I suggest you use this in crisis situations to let your friends and coworkers know how or where you are at a glance.
You will also notice a game named "Bonsai". This automatically installed when I pushed through the above updates; I did not make it. Do not ask me for technical support for it.
I hope these features are useful to you. [Besides the cat game. That is Not Useful.] If you have any questions, feedback, or suggestions for new functions, please let me know.

Thanks. They didn't at first - my first job was in something I hadn't had experience with in years. I had to apply for this.

[ About the captains, not about her. Snake's taken a look at her profile, and she isn't bad looking. Pretty, and a commander of some sort? It's hard not to be interested. ]
How did you go about applying?
sorry this is late! holidays + wanted to check this one with mods
no worries!
So. Commander of what?

Who was winning?

[And that's a painful admission. Wasn't she raised as Shepard so she could do something about that?]
Why so interested?

[ It's more than he would usually reveal to a stranger, particularly over a phone line. But Snake always finds it easier to relate to other soldiers. ]

You're lucky you weren't up against them.
Which branch are you with? Rank?
no subject
Don't really have a rank anymore.

If you didn't program the game, who did? The last thing I need is to be reminded about that damn tree, only now it's dropped kittens and there's a game about it!
no subject
Hell if I know. A previous MID technician? The code was already there.
no subject
( please don't ask him how he knows. )
How? No one not from my universe knew it existed until it got sent to me here. Unless someone around here is into horrific genetic art just for the hell of it.

( get to the point, ivan )
Anyway. The Cetagandans like to screw around with genetics just to see what they can come up with. Art, that's what they call it. The tree's an example of that.
I'm so sorry
[Note to self: Cats don't grow on trees. Don't pull a Starflight and go shooting your mouth off on the network.]
Maybe a Cetagandan was in the Moira's previous crew and left the code in.

( and then, b/c he's ivan -- )
It's nice work, though. The coding you did. We should celebrate it, if you want -- get a drink at the bar.
( ivan, no. )

- uh, sure. When?

( i'm so sorry, cloney. )

People needed to know.
on my phone so no HTML sorry!
you should have just taken the credit for it!
no I'M sorry for being late
There are limits to what I'll take the credit for and something this silly is definitely past that limit.

I'm sorry this is so late - announcement on IC December 9th!
It's Shepard. I don't really use my first name. But you're welcome.

Do we have any policy from the captains on sending security along planetside when people are injured? Or do we have to call on people at our own discretion?
sorry this is late!
Thanks.
No official policy that I was made aware of while programming the alerts, so take whoever will come along.
